Gone to Ebay

"I'm also shocked that out of 20 PMs, not a single person made a reasonable offer on any one of your games. That seems impossible to me, but given that it was a holiday weekend and since I don't know everyone here personally, I guess anything is possible. I guess if I was in your position, I would probably go back and re-evaluate my tactics and possibly revise my sales post, maybe even pricing everything, as that seems like a pretty poor response from a community that is tailor made for what you are selling."

Never stated I did not get any offers. Just like all your posts in this thread you like to assume much. I got two normal offers and I excepted them right away and then the people did not respond. One of the reasons I got frustrated and sent them to Ebay.

"As for your responsiveness, I can only speak from my own experience and say that you did respond to me with a single line of "I listed a link to the photos in the first post". In my opinion, this seemed like a pretty canned bulk response and since the games I saw didn't meet with my standards, I didn't follow up. I don't think I owed you anything further as I felt your response showed a pretty distinct lack of interest. Similarly, I don't think you owed me anything more, although your abruptness didn't leave a great impression with me for possible future transactions"

This is exactly what you said Bojay copy and pasted.

"Hello. I am interested in purchasing Ace of Aces, Impossible Mission, Mario Bros. and Motor Psycho if you have them in mint/sealed condition. Please let me know and if you have photos of those, that would be great. Thank you."

This was my response as soon as I posted the pictures awhile later.....

"I listed a link to the photos in the first post.

Thanks,

Chris"

I got back to you the next day and with pictures for you how is that bad at all or a "distinct lack of interest" I don't get it?? This is your bad personal experience with me. Okay.

Also, you state if something don't meet your standards it does not need a reply, but out the other side of your mouth in your first post you say there is something to be said about courtesy in the forums and with the community with replies and then dog me for not responding to an offer I did not like. I can only speak for myself, but this may sound hypocritical.

Sending someone a generic one line response with a public link to pictures you listed in a web forum is not great customer service. I'm sorry, it just isn't. Sending a PM and saying "Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, most of the items you wanted are not in mint condition, but here is a link to photos so you can check them yourself" would have been a good start. Similarly, taking the time to actually negotiate with people or giving them time to let you know that they would be sending payment or that they were no longer interested would have been a much better approach. I simply find it hard to believe that two people made offers, you accepted and then they dropped off the face of the Earth all within a three day period on a holiday weekend.

There is indeed something to be said for courtesy. If you feel that I somehow owed you a PM that acknowledged that you sent me a generic link and didn't provide the specific condition information I asked for, then I apologize and next time I will make sure I PM you to tell youthat I am not interested at all. My guess is that you provided the other 20 or so people who PM'd a similar level of generic response and general apathy which is probably why you were unable to make any sales despite the fact that many of us have found the marketplace to be an outstanding place to buy and sell for many years. If I'm really being honest here, I suspect this was all just a massive attempt to garner publicity for your auctions and that you never had any intention of selling games here.

This is why 'make a offer' sales on forums are a BAD idea. You clearly have a price in mind. Next time you post stuff for sale here, list the price and move on. Clearly you WANTED to sell on here, to avoid the fee's and hassles with EBay. But state your ballpark price next time in public and go from there. We've had several problems with other people in the past who did 'make a offer' sales.

You are exactly right. I will not do a FO thread again. I usually always do FS. I was in a hurry and did not look up every price and make a list is why it went up FO. I would always prefer to sell on here rather than Ebay.

It's quite alright, I do understand. I've done the same thing as you did in the past and had issues with it also, although not as bad as yours. :) At least with a EBay auction you can start at $1 and see what the market commands. (I've not looked at your auction so I'm guessing that's what you did.) I wish you the best luck on your auction and hope you get the sale you wanted.

what the hell is bennybingo doing...

...voicing my opinion in a public forum. Do you have a problem with that as well??? A word of advice, Mr. "I think I am smarter than you": If you don't like people sharing their opinions with you, I would suggest keeping your own opinions & rude comments within PM's. That's what the "P" stands for in PM…PRIVATE. (but since you are so much better educated than me, you must have already known that…right?)

As soon as you started calling the OP:

  • a jerk
  • uneducated
  • lacking social skills

(all of which I happen to know he is not)

I decided to chime in. I am not trying to be anyone's lawyer….I just abhor folks who bad-mouth other long standing AA members. It amounts to name calling, simply because someone didn't run their f/s thread the way you wanted them to run it. This is what makes people take their items to eBay, rather than sell them here. This is exactly why I no longer post f/s threads in the marketplace. Ask anyone…I have a solid reputation here. As a collector, gamer, buyer, seller and friend to many. My reason for chiming in was simply to call you out on your nonsense. There is no need to call names, there is no need to get personal and there is certainly no one telling you that you have to buy anybody's items. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. I have experienced my fair share of deals that went south, and I have learned the hard way that not everyone responds to your PM's. It's just how it goes sometimes.

Giving a link to pictures that you asked for is good customer service. I can't load that many 5mb pics in the thread. It was a link I made for here. Condition is subjective that is why I give you pictures to see for yourself. If you were to buy some expensive games and I told you they where mint you would still want to see them for yourself. The two did not dop off the face of the earth they logged in a couple times with no response. One can see when the last time someone logs in. I don't care what you can believe. I will deal with them in my own way.

I don't think you owe me anything. I brought that up because you were talking trash about it then did the exact same thing.

I did negotiate with all offers except for Tom. If there is anyone out there that did not negotiate with me that sent me an offer say anything. You wont hear anything because there are none, so stop stating false stuff. I also let three other people know about the link that asked for pictures such as yourself, and all of them recieved a different message, because they actually asked questions. I answered all questions that were asked. I also have found the marketplace to be good as well over the years. I was not bashing it. As a matter of fact the only person I have had a problem with is you. With your sarcastic untrue posts that just keep spewing crap. As far as garnering interest in my auction that is exactly what the the Auction thread is for and why I posted in it. That is what I always do.

I also don't need customer service advise from you either. I have pefect feedback for the last 16 years on Digital Press, Nintendo Age, Sega Age, CheapAssgamer, and many others.

Say whatever you want I am going to ignore it I am done talking with you.

Sorry everyone for all the rants this guy just gets under my skin. I am over it.

I am ok with chrisballer after we talked about, nice. As for benny, for me it's very weird that someone other than the original post owner gets angrier than him on defending the same points. Looks like a flame lover to me. Good night, guys.

They are just games... Not the first or the last to be lost.

Early on, I ran some posts asking for offers on Atari 800, C64 etc, items as well...I too received mixed emails, however I accepted almost all offers as most of the items came in huge lots and often I didn't really care what I got after taking what I wanted out of those lots. I was happy to see guys getting what they wanted even if for resale , while offsetting some of my initial Atari investments.

Personally I'd like to see a mandatory price placed on everything posted and made that known yesterday in a PM to the admins. This is the norm on just about every site , no matter the genre , and it alleviates this kind of back and forth.

No beef here... Just wanted to complete my 7800 collection with the few games which this seller oddly enough had for me to do so.

I totally agree. Most marketplace forums have a list of rules posted - No "make an offer" posts (must list price), no gift PayPal, post photos in the thread instead of emailing/PMing them, etc. Strangely, the marketplace on AA doesn't seem to have any rules whatsoever :?

Well people put prices they want for their items and certain people pm with low offers so people just ignore your set price and make their own offers anyways . And why not let people accept payments as gifts ? That should be between the seller and buyer imo . Just click off of a sales thread if you dont like it and move on with your lives . Mods dont have time to be policing the market place unless there is a scam going on ... usually from newbies .

Well, a lot of forums prohibit PayPal gift payments because it's against Paypal's User Agreement, in section 8, under Fees (according to CAG).
