pixelmischief
Does anyone (preferably U.S.-based) have a working SyQuest SyJet 1.5 drive? I have a couple of cartridges I want to recover the data from and mine crapped out. Maybe copy my stuff off and burn it to a DVD for me? Otherwise, if there's some trust, maybe I'll pay you to ship me the unit and do the recovery myself?
visionik
I don't have one, but I did notice you can get SyJet drives for $45-$70 on eBay and even brand new on Amazon.
pixelmischief
Yeah. When I used the Google machine on the World Wide Interwebs, I found many for sale. I am hoping to not spend anywhere near that much to get the data off the cartridges.
Tickled_Pink
I have one in its box in the garage. Got it off eBay for peanuts years ago but could never get it to work, it's an internal IDE drive so not sure if it had anything to do with the 'newer' motherboards I had when I tried it
+DarkLord
I have a SyQuest EZ135 - are those compatible?
pixelmischief
Nah, the 135 gives you 135MB. The SyJet 1.5 gives you 1.5GB; 10 times more. Thanks for popping in on it though.
pixelmischief
So, just to whet appetites for what might be on these 2 cartridges I have... I got them in a deal from a guy who lives in the East Village, NYC. He sold me a couple of Commodore monitors, a 1080 and a 1084. He also threw in a full compliment of Atari ST/TT/Falcon archive CD's; originals of Crawly Crypt, Suzy B's, Bird of Prey, etc. And...these 2 SyJet carts marked "Backup #1" and "Backup #2". What could be on them? Development backups? Who knows....but that's what I'm hoping for; some cool "light of day" stuff.
