how bad is hot swapping a cart like MyIDE ][

Hi!

Some people say: it won't harm anything... other people say: don't do it.

I can remember in the early days of Sio2SD / Sio2IDE when the Fuse-Bits weren't set right, there was this chance of breaking the firmware when these devices were hot plugged in or off the atari.

Since MyIDE (1 and 2) lack a reset button, sometimes it is needed to get back to the startup screen of the cart, without a power cycle (to keep ramdisk contents)... detaching and re-inserting the cart while the atari is powered on, does this trick. After a reboot, all the ramdisk contents are still there (yahoo).

But I do not want to break anything. In the MyIDE ][ there is such a CPLD chip and some other bells and whistles.

So who knows the answer? Thanks anyway!
