MaDDuck
I searched wikipedia as well as the forums here but to no avail. Will the Genesis Power Base Converter work on the Genesis 2? I realize that it doesn't look pretty. Thanks guys!
Rex Dart
If it fits, it should work.
Rhomaios
If it fits, it should work. But that's the thing, it doesn't fit. You'd have to remove the Genesis shell.
MaDDuck
Cool!! It'll look as ugly as a 32X, but if it works, great! Thanks

MaDDuck
That is sooooo unfair! The redesigned ones won't do cards (I have about 10) and tend to be more expensive, but they will work with my Mark III to SMS adapter. I'll dig some more and see what I can find. I was trying to avoid getting a Genesis model 1.

jferio
It does work with the Genesis 2, but if you're willing, you don't have to remove the Genesis shell. Just cut part of the back of the converter off, it sticks down and blocks insertion. In fact, when I had a PBC, it was already modified for a Genesis 2 before I got it. The mod doesn't effect the aesthetics when it's mounted on a Genesis 1, either.

Buy a Master System today!
MaDDuck
My Master System died on me. I can't even get a pulse! I've had it since 1988. I never 'upgraded' to a Genesis, after the Master System, I went Nintendo. So to clarify, to modify a PBC for a Genesis model 3, you'd just have to circumcise it? Do you happen to have a picture of that? Edited April 22, 2014 by MaDDuck
mkiker2089
3and 2 are very different. Which do you have?
MaDDuck
3and 2 are very different. Which do you have? Whoops, my bad, I know better than to get a version 3, not to be confused with the Genesis III console. I would prefer a model 2, but may have to go model 1. I'm on the fence. thegamezmaster
Got an extra PBC if you're interested.
MaDDuck
Anyone here have a pic of what a modded PBC looks like on a model 2?
Nerf Herder73
Stone Age Gamer sells this alternative. http://www.stoneagegamer.com/powerbase-mini.html
MaDDuck
Looks as cumbersome as the PBC! Why must it be made so tall? It is only a passthrough. And where do I plug my 3D glasses in?

MaDDuck
yes!! or a repurposed cartridge. for that price, it would be nice if it was an original design.
AtariLeaf
Just get a Genny 1, it's the best model anyway
mkiker2089
Well I think my Genesis 3 is the coolest. Then again I have a Snes Jr, a Sears Arcade 2, NES top loader and a Sega Master System 2. I like the latter releases of consoles. Re: the pbc. If I were to get another Genesis I would indeed get a 1 with the matching CD. It looks good that way. MaDDuck
Thanks for the advice, I'll go with a model 1, uncut PBC and a model 2 SEGA CD that fits.
mkiker2089
You don't like the model 1 CD?
Rhomaios
Thanks for the advice, I'll go with a model 1, uncut PBC and a model 2 SEGA CD that fits. I still don't get it. You'll find a Master System for about the same price as a PBC, so unless you're just looking to save space, you're not really gaining anything. You'll also have a huge gap if you add a model 1 Genny with a model 2 SegaCD. I have a part that fits in there (without the IMO unnecessary metal sheet, though) if you want it to look nicer. It's going unused in my house. Edited April 24, 2014 by o.pwuaioc
MaDDuck
My original Master System died after 20 years. This is my excuse to get a genesis! I've seen model 1 Genesises on model 2 Sega CD's with no problem. There is what looks like a spacer underneath it. I found it hard to find, but since getting a model 2 Genny (in addition to my model 1), I don't need mine anymore. Let me know if you need one.
