atari8warez
IDE PLus 2 has to be one of the most difficult, if not the most difficult of all Atari 8 bit external upgrades to enclose. I have seen only two enclosures made by two different people here in AA so far and mine has to be the 3rd one unless there's more that I don't know off who were adventurous enough to embark in this patience testing endeavour. After a lot of dremelling, cutting, filing and gluing I have finally finished mine and I am relatively happy with the result. I had to remove the edge connector not by de-soldering but by cutting it off the PCB using my dremel thus saving the PCB from possible damage. I just trimmed the pins down and left them on the board. Photos should tell the rest of the story. By the way, I thought a separate thread for boxing the IDE Plus would be useful and that is why I created this one instead of replying to other IDE Plus related threads. So if you have enclosed yours please add your experience (and of course photos) here so that others can get ideas and perhaps do one better then ours. Anyway, here are the photos of mine, started off with this box: Edited April 22, 2014 by atari8warez
Marius
How fabulous is that! I keep my fingers crossed for a production run. What an amazing smart looking enclosure you have there a8w. Nice!
Rybags
That's some nice work there. I've got a USB HDD enclosure with nice vented grill sides that died some time back that I intend to repurpose. I use mine with an SD card adaptor on my 800XL (and I've got the ribbon cable) which makes doing an enclosure somewhat easier since you don't need the edge or cart connector exposed. Android8675
As a projectbox newbie, i was debating redoing my KarinMaxiDrive box, here's a stupid question, what do you use (specifically) to cut out bits (route, if you will)? Your box looks hot (he said), nice work. -A.
576XE
Very good! Is it safe of temperature shock? ... Sorry, There are many cases depending of HD or CF or IBM's CF format HDs ... Anyway, It's beautiful !

Thank you Marius, all work was manual and it took me several days and a lot of work to finish that enclosure and as such I am not really up to the task of doing a production run. Here' are some of my tools and materials I use for doing enclosure work: Edited April 22, 2014 by atari8warez

The enclosure isn't hermetically sealed and there are a few access holes to switches which should be enough for hot air to escape, I personally use a CF card anyway so heat isn't an issue but I am sure it would do just fine with a 2.5" HDD as well.
