Atari 7800 Dust Cover's on ebay

I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks now. A couple of months ago I ordered an Atari 7800 dust cover from a seller on ebay named "papa*nannysfunstuff" and I'm so pleased with it that I wanted to post a few pictures of it on my 7800. It's made out of vinyl and features big embroidered white stitching of "Atari 7800" on the top. I know the seller also has these for the 5200, 2600, Jaguar, and A8 computers as well. I don't personally know the seller and I'm not related to them in any way, but I really admire her work and wanted to mention it on here. I just wanted to say that this cover is awesome and well worth the $18.00. It fits tightly on the top of the console and keeps the dust out of the cartridge port very nicely. Looks totally 80's and very sporty.

Looks beautiful! Personal preference aside (Gives me more of a late 70's/early 80's '2600 - Woody' appropriate cover feel ;) ), it looks high quality and obviously a very nice personal touch. Glad you're pleased with the purchase, and thanks for the info/heads-up. Hope it garners more sales for the seller. :)

Jerry and Barb have done marvelous work on these dust covers, and I'm proud to have several different ones in my collection. Everyone should definitely see Jerry's thread for all the different systems they make covers for: if you're a collector, and if you want to keep your hardware in top cosmetic condition, a quality dust cover is a great investment.

Is your avatar a Rygar figure, made from DC Universe parts?

Also, nice dust cover, Benjamin.

Unlike the craftsmanship behind these exquisite covers, I cannot vouch for the origin or authenticity of the work in my avatar. It's around the spring-summer when I ensure at least one play through of my favorite 8-bit game of all time - NES Rygar. It made me think about switching up my former avatar - so I did with an image I found that I liked. :-D

Of course it would be a dream come true to have the NES console port (Not the Arcade version) of Rygar brought over to the 7800. Obviously, the game would need some additional cart hardware (via the XM module or cart by cart basis) like the NES needed in order to pull a game like that off.

Rygar under the NES had 128k of additional memory for things like stored graphics data on the program ROM which could be copied to RAM on the cartridge at run time as well as vertical mirroring.

CPUWIZ developing and making available those new PCB board types and Dev tools as well as RevEng's work on additional Dev tools and technical documentation, helps to level the playfield and perhaps bring the dream closer to reality (Well, just let me make-believe it brings the dream closer to reality...lol).

Regardless, this thread is really making me itch to get one of these covers. The C64 version makes me want to buy a breadbox just to cover it up with one:

Bald_Bull_Jr,

Thanks. I had no idea they were such a hit on this forum, it's neat to see such a handy item being made by hand here in the states.

Trebor,

You will be happy with the dust cover, they look really nice on the console. Every time you look over and see it on your console, you will want to fire it up and play some games. The NES version Rygar was a wonderful game, but one that I sadly never finished. That purple spider boss usually ended up eating me for lunch. Loved the music in that game too, great tunes!

Telegames also used to sell similarly colored dust covers for the 7800 but unfortunately they didn't include Atari logos. I learned the hard way after my Grandma ordered one for the 7800 at her house.

If you want translucent dust covers, Best Electronics sells those. Those remind me of the dust covers my elementary and junior high schools purchased for their Apple //e's and ImageWriter II printers.

Anyone know if there are any UK sellers making the 7800 dust cover. Basically I have a whole set of Barb's for other consoles but hate the really tight fit they have.

Don't know of any UK sellers but I'm a fan of the canvas covers made by seller pkrah on eBay. Being canvas, it's bound not to be as tight a fit as those vinyl ones you referenced. I have one of pkrah's for my 7800. He ships worldwide. Looks like he has a Facebook page "thepatratshack," too. No kickback to me for the publicity, just a happy customer.

They're beautiful but if you need one either your house is too dusty or you don't play your 7800 enough. ;)

While I suppose it could be true on either account, I personally like having the dust covers because they look really nice. Especially if you can get them all to be similar in type to each other. It brings uniformity to a collection and lets everyone who sees your collection know that it is special. If not to them, they will respect how special the systems are to you when they see the care put into keeping them nice.

You sure? I just checked and looks like one black is in stock. That's the one I've got, too. Great look. Only blue is out of stock on his eBay store atm.

Yep, it's in stock because I asked him to list it again!

They are great covers, I own a few myself (they make one for the 5200 Trak Ball also). They promptly answer emails and ship items quickly.

Highly recommended, Now if only they made a cover for the Odyssey 2 I would be all set (I asked, not enough interest and they do not have one to use as a pattern)
