Our game this round is Wizard of Wor. Play on default starting settings and may the best Worrior win. ;) Emulation is fine as are custom controls. A8 version also allowed this time.

Round ends on Monday, May 26th 2014 @9pm EST

Current HSC record. Bust it for a bonus point!

This game is driving me nuts! Any tips? I hooked up my 5200 this weekend thinking that would be better than an emulator, but nope-- about the same results. Collision detection seems kind of wonky sometimes, too. Oh yeah, and the sun was in my eyes. Back to the basement for me!!! (I did kill the wizard once, however... so I'm getting better!)

When I was about 8 years old or so (back around 1982), I remember playing this game at a pizza restaurant in Lake Worth, Florida. It was the sit down "cocktail" style arcade version. I recall there being 'twinkling' stars in the background, medieval script fonts, unique music, and the game talked! Maybe it was the wizard's voice giving taunts to challenge the player? Anyhow, there was a completely different feel to the game. It would be neat to have an arcade faithful version of Wizard Of Wor for 5200/8-bit some day. But, until then this is the best console version of the game that I'm aware of. Maybe I'll just track down that old cocktail table W.O.W...it should make a nice center piece in the living room....

My favorite port of this one's on the C64. :)

I've only managed 9,400 so far at this version.

I've heard rumors that the C64 port is voice enhanced. Do you know of an emulator that can successfully handle the ROM?

This extended round comes to a close with J' snagging the W. Thanks to all who played and don't forget to vote for your favorite "proto" for round 9. Our round 8 is already open. Should be lots of scores with how many votes there were... :ponder:
