atarilovesyou
I can't seem to locate my old thread, but...now I've also got my hands on a Turbo Everdrive. Could someone tell me what size I'd need for an SD card to hold the entire collection of regular release ROMs? From what I've seen, it looks like other systems can easily fit on a 2 GB card. Anybody own one, care to comment? Thanks!
Trebor
An entire PC Engine/TurboGrafx -16 ROM collection is ~80-110 MB depending on how you classify a "regular ROM release". The US (TurboGrafx-16 only) ROM collection alone is ~40 MB. 2 GB - even 1 GB - is way above and beyond anything you'll ever need, even if you include all the bad dumps and hacks. PC Engine Duo/TurboGrafx-CD collection is when you have to considering [many] gigabytes worth of storage space.
Greg2600
There's a Turbo Everdrive Romset which is nicely grouped and maintained. I'll check where I got mine when I get home from work. For the others, I usually wind up using a torrent, but getting a SNES or Genesis or NES romset that includes USA, Japan, Europe games and translations is next to impossible. They're always missing something.
Rex Dart
For the others, I usually wind up using a torrent, but getting a SNES or Genesis or NES romset that includes USA, Japan, Europe games and translations is next to impossible. They're always missing something. I usually settle for the complete set, and grab whatever specific translations/hacks I'm interested in myself. They would likely be outdated in a zipped set anyways. BTW, not sure if this was being asked or not, but a Genesis & SMS collection fits easily within 2GB.
Greg2600
That's what I do as well, and romhacking.net is awesome for translations. I don't bother with hacks, just too many. I use a 2GB SD card for my Everdrive MD (has all Genesis USA, some Japan, Europe, and all SMS - many regions). The Everdrive MD I think, like the Super ED, was not able to read SDHC cards, so 2GB is usually the limit of SD card you can find in old SD. As long as you don't put multiple roms of the same game, SNES will fit in 2GB too. And unfortunately many rom collections will have 6-10 versions of the same game in a zip file, which you must then weed out. Big pain in the neck. I wish the Nintendo/SEGA sets were as well maintained as the Atari/Coleco are. Edited September 11, 2014 by Greg2600
atarilovesyou
The only collection I could find for the TG16 is one called 'GoodPCE' or something like that. Only thing is that when you extract the files, you don't get individual titles...only six or so bigger files that don't look anything like typical game roms. Weird. It's on emuparadise. And oddly, the TED didn't come with a manual. Trying to find the link on the site to updates, I can never find em easy. The manual has gotta be there. Those are just RAR files, not weird at all. The contents of that ZIP have just been compressed (and split) further. You'll want 7zip or something similar installed to handle compressed files, because there are .7z files inside those RARs. Also, the name "GoodPCE" tells you that it's been assembled with the GoodTools utility.
Trebor
Some Nice Guy setup a simple zip file containing the following folders: English Translation English Translation 2012 JAPAN NonGoodPCE ROM HACK USA It comes with this message: "PC Engine Turbografx ED V1.0 Designed for the Turbo Everdrive SD Cartridge (But can also be used with Emulators) this contains the No Intro pack for PC Engine and Turbografx including USA and Japanese ROMS. It also includes English Translations, a ROM hack and NonGood packs." Grab it here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/zxhyef The file size is 117.68MB compressed. Uncompressed it is 237 MB. Do not click on any other link or 'promised' download on the page except for the one that looks like this: Some Nice Guy also stated, "You're welcome."
atarilovesyou
Thanks for the info, Rex. Just odd that the other two Good collections (for Genesis and SNES) didn't require any sort of extra unzipping...why only the TG16?
