Problematic Sega GameGear

have a couple of problems with my sega game gear (i have the 2asic version)

I have been having this game gear for 10 years or so and want to refurbish it.

I have converted it to LED backlight and changed the caps of the power board and the console itself but it's in a non working state.

I have the following problems with it:

The console itself is not working, I have a white screen all the time, tried cleaning the cartridge and the connector still no improovement
And the power board is a bit problematic, it works on batteries (meaning the console turns on) but if i put it on an AC power adaptor it doesn't wanna work. I have tried to check for voltages but it seems like the power is coming into the device but nothing else except that.

I posted also a couple of pictures maybe someone can point out the problem.

Thank you in advance y'all

Try tilting the Game Gear to almost flat. If you can see the image, the caps on the main board are bad.

I've recapped 2 Game Gears in similar conditions (one 2ASIC and one v04) and I have a 3rd one that still works fine, a Majesco model but it may need new cap soon. Their LCD is a bit better than Sega models.

PS Majesco model can be identified by these 3 features if you're looking in the wild, in gaming store, and on auctions.

  1. Majesco model is black while Sega model is dark grey
  2. Start button is purple instead of blue
  3. 3 dot logo by the LCD are white instead of red/green/blue.
