Saving cassette files on Atari 8-bit emulator

Would there be any possible way to save files in cassette format on any Atari 8-bit computer emulator? I looked at many various emulators such as Altirra, A8E, Atari800win plus, etc, and I can't seem to find any option on any of those for what I'm trying to do.

In Atari800MacX you can:

 

 

 

If you intend to record cassettes from Atari, please use the wav-format, 16-bit stereo and 44.1 kHz. With those parameters we do have the best experiences.

 

Further, Altirra can read direct wav-files. Saving? Just try.

Altirra doesn't support saving to tapes, AFAIK.

 

In Atari800WinPLus, you have to enable SIO patch for it to work, and then use Tape Recorder menu to either create new tape image, or fast-forward the exisitng CAS image to its end before saving. Also, read the help file.

 

Although for some reason tape saving doesn't work in version 4.1 of that emulator. The last version it worked on was 4.0.

 

In Atari800 tape emulaton has got updated, and SIO patch is no longer needed while saving. Read DOC/USAGE for details.

 

There's also this modification of Atari800 that supports WAV files, including saving to them.

Ok I've just tried those programs.... AtariWinplus 4.0 still doesn't work and yes I've enabled the SIO patch but it just gets stuck on an endless long beep without writing any data on the CAS image. With Atari800, I can't even seem to get the application running. I don't know if it's because I'm using Windows 8 or something but it simply won't even start and go to one of the BIOS.

The Atari800MacX is for Mac OS X...

It worked for me. Write down the exact steps you're making, including the point at which you switch the SIO patch option, and we'll see what's wrong.

Which Atari800 are we talking about here, the official one, or the A8CAS version? Does it show any error message when running? If not, could you try running it from the Command Prompt and see if there are any error messages displayed?

Ok on Atariwinplus, what I do is simply start up BASIC on OS A or B, put it on 48k, put it on NTSC, then write a simple test program

 

10 rem cassette test

20 print "yes it works!"

 

I go to the tape drive settings, make a New CAS image, clicked the rewind button, and then typed in CSAVE then hit return twice and then nothing happens but the long continuous beep.

Sorry for the late reply.

 

For me, after CSAVE and double-hitting Return, the emulator starts beeping continuously as you described (known bug), but it does not hang; instead it actually writes data to tape, and immediately responds with READY.

 

When you said "nothing happens", did you mean that the emulator does not respond with READY?

I figured out the cassette save in Altirra.

 

You have to select File>Cassette>New Tape

 

type CSAVE and press enter twice

 

then select File>Cassette>Save and it will save the CAS image file

 

My thing was I forgot to load DOS and typed in a program but unable to save to disk.  This way I was able to save the file, then boot in DOS then load and save to Disk or rather H drive link.
