or some Atari 800 XL? got some spare... ;)

Ha ha...I'm fine on those but thank you for the offer...

Also that would be a treat for me and not her, she will get her PS4 as I promised it, it will take some months but when I make a promise to my daughter I keep it, bad circumstances got in the way. It would have been a joy to see her face but she's a sweet understanding 14yr old. Hopefully after Xmas she will start going down the road of being discharged from the hospital to finally come home full time, its been a horrible time since she went in close to death in September but she's improved tremendously and they have in the last couple of weeks allowed her home for the weekend. We visit her every night during the week in the hospital and it moves you to tears with just how ill both physically and mentally these anorexic girls are and the very punishing routine they have to go through.

Thankfully Serena has been classed as non anorexic but she still has to to the forced eating, the constant following around by staff 24 / 7 and never allowed to not eat even the smallest bit of food on her plate, every crumb and I do mean crumb has to be eaten. I actually ate with her for the day following the exact same rules she has to do and I'd defy anyone to do the same, its horrendous and she's inspected to make sure no food has been thrown away or hidden.

That's why I gave her the goal of the PS4 back then, something to look forward to but things recently went very wrong for my mother in law and she had to pay out a LOT of money so the money set aside to help with the PS4 was gone.

Could not be helped, I felt so sorry for my mother in law as she felt terrible she had let me down but I gave her a big hug and a kiss and said you let no one down, and its me that feels sorry for her.

Sometimes life is cruel but at least my lovely daughter is getting better every day and I'll make it happen one day..

Paul..

Small edit: This is where she is

September was the nightmare, she had lost a huge amount of weight for reasons we didn't know then, she was rushed in all of a sudden even though we had been taking her non stop to her GP, we were told she was dangerously ill and even the slightest exercise could induce a heart attack, our world fell apart there and then, we could not stop crying and sobbing for days / weeks meanwhile Serena was confined to bed in the hospital having tubes in every place and looking so lost even though I stayed at the hospital all day and night, every day and night.

Then the Mental Health team stepped in and said she was anorexic and when she was well enough they would transfer her to a special unit for a few weeks to have specialist treatment. So one night we were taken to a place 70 miles away in the middle of nowhere, upon entering this place it was clearly NOT an eating disorder unit , but a young offenders unit where the girls were much older and making threats at her amongst other stuff and doing lesbian practices on each other, she was NOT going to be here, not in a million years was I leaving her there. I basically told the staff that if they tried to detain her I'd be very forceful in stopping them so they better call the Police of let us take her out.

A 100 pound cab ride back home later and we then realised the Mental Health people were a huge problem as well as her health.

3 days later she was admitted to this new place which IS an eating disorder unit but what the health people had told us was a couple of weeks was suddenly 6 months she would have to stay in, it was shocking to say the least, the mental Health unit had lied through their teeth. Serena and I sat there gobsmacked but I knew she needed treatment so we agreed.

After 4 weeks assessment the new hospital said that as far as the tests go she wasn't anorexic either physically or mentally and that the Mental Health people had made a seriously flawed judgement, I wasn't happy to say the least BUT Serena through the malnutrition had damaged her stomach and had to go through the same process as anorexic girls to get her stomach back to healthy.

Its been very tough on her, incredibly tough to be honest but she's been wonderful, hence I had made the promise along side my mother in law to get the PS4, she had seen a pack she wanted with GTA 5 and The Last of US and at the time we both agreed we would get her it nearer Xmas, it was a big bit of hope for her and when things fell through I was devastated but so was my mother in law as she had a 3000 pound bill and another 5000 for structural work on her house so it could not be helped.

Serena despite all the let down and tough life in the Hospital unit took it on the chin with more maturity than her years but you could see she was gutted.

But I won't let her down, it will happen at some point, she deserves it for the damn hard work she has done to get so much better, we look forward to her coming home asap...

Sorry about the long story but I felt it was only fair to give you the whole thing since people had been so kind, its been and continues to be very hard, almost losing your only child is pretty hard but thankfully she didn't leave us and proved the Mental Health team wrong (to which I will be kicking up a HUGE stink) and for 5 days starting on Wednesday we get our lovely daughter home, it wasn't the Xmas planned but its more about us being together and she has got a few small bits and bobs to open, as a massive gamer she will be playing Super Smash Bros 3DS to death as that game is her main present :)

Hope every one on here has a wonderful Xmas or a great holiday depending on your faith..

Thanks all and of course seasons greetings to every one, now you know why I wasn't so busy with the Gamepack...

She's a Nintendo freak, loves Mario and played most of the games on the Gamecube, N64, Wii, DS etc but she's also a major Sims Fan as well, she just loves playable games and the Mario's are some of the best.

Her other love is Zelda and I've just come back from a rushed journey to the West End to get (thanks to my sister in law and our savings) a Zelda shield back pack from the Brilliant Forbidden Planet shop (I could spend half a lottery in there ).

She's not expecting this pressie so I might get a big smile after all :)

PS4 in the months ahead...

Just realised I've been rather rude in not wishing my good friend Starwindz and his family a Happy Xmas, my apologies but at least I can wish you a Happy New Year and seasons greetings.

Sorry about that, slipped my mind with every thing going on...

Thank you for your time and hard work on this wonderful gamepack and I hope office life isn't stressing you too much.

Actually I am the one who should apologize. Although I am very busy, but I think it is just an excuse not to have the time to say hello. Anyway happy Xmas and happy new year for you and your family. :)
(P.S.) I am trying to come back to the game pack project soon after finishing my current works of my company projects.

Starwindz, I'd imagine you are twice as busy as me if not more and I'm really busy at the moment.

As for the Gamepack, sadly business before pleasure, you get back to it after you sort out all you need, as my daughter edges towards release from the Hospital I will be able to make a return myself but at the moment I'm hardly still for a minute, mostly I'm on the road back and forth from the hospital and when I do get to be home its either spending the short weekends home with her or writing endless letters and emails regarding her case.

At the moment its all about Serena until she's back home but when that happens I'm coming back to do that much promised one by one check and a few little things I have been thinking about.

Until then its a happy new years from me and my family to yours and of course EVERY ONE on here.

Paul....A tired old man :)

Just a little update to my daughters condition..

Looks like I'll be back on the Gamepack sooner than expected, we had Serena home for Xmas and she went back to the Hospital on Monday night, we then had a case review for her the next day which went brilliantly, so good that she was allowed to come back home that day until Sunday night. And at the next case meeting on 5th Feb detail of her discharge to come home permanently will be acted on so maybe less than 2 weeks after that...

So looks like the New Year is looking good (fingers crossed).

Once she has the ultrasound scan at 90% BMI everything gets decided and she's at 87.7% right now...

This is what I call a present...

  • 3 weeks later...

Don't worry, its going to happen but myself and Starwindz have one hell of a lot on at the moment. Having spoken privately to Starwindz I can say he's had a lot on his plate to deal with recently and my wife and I have a world of stress re our daughters health that still continues but both myself and Starwindz aim to get back on the case asap.

As we all know, real life can be wonderful but it can also be a tough thing..

  • 1 month later...

Not yet, I've still got family issues re my daughter that need our attention as parents and all I can say is that Starwindz has a very important job that has quite a seriously large task on the go that is taking all his time up.

But we both have said its not done and we will be back, outside life is just so hard for both of us at the moment and we (my wife and and) owe it to our daughter to support her through what seems like forever of really hard times for her. Starwindz has the pressures of work on his shoulders.

Its not over until the fat lady sings and while I'm fat I'm not a lady and can't sing...So all we need is free time and good news...

Thank you for your interest...

I am currently working on the technical project for my company with Graz university of technology in Austria. It is expected that I'll back to Korea soon. Regarding the game pack project, I also hope to continue the development again soon. It would be next month or later.

Are you still working on that same issue?

I hear Austria is a beautiful place but as always, there's no place like home..

Best wishes to you and your family...

That issue has been closed at the previous week successfully. And as the next work for me, I have to take part in the new project. This is not an issue, and this is the new joint project for the product development of our company. Now everything goes well now but it is a hard work. Yes. Graz is a very beautiful place. There are many great and beautiful buildings. But there's no place like home. :)

Thank you very much and also best wishes to you and your family.

Glad to hear the other thing was sorted, best of luck on the new project, to quote a line from Robocop, "good business is where you find it" so glad to hear things are working well.

Let me know when you are back in to the gamepack.

Sadly things are not going so well for my daughter, all sorts of new problems have surfaced but we will be behind her every step of the way..

All the best to you D.

Paul.

hey i was wondering if its feasable to add scene demos to the gamepack, a little tab that switches between games and demos? - i know the there arent as many demos as games so shouldnt be to hard compile a list. The demoscene didnt exist as such when i was a young atarian but i remember loving compy shop and the robot walking and the intro to slot machine also the fractalus intro.... in recent years ( lol, the last ten or fiteen, many more have appeared) i am absolutly blown away by drunk chessboard (fox do more of the same pleeze!!) anyway there are some nice bits of work out there and sometimes its nice to just watch!!

let me know what you think,

tim.
