SainT
Ok, new batch of PCB's ordered. I've added pull-ups / pull-downs where some of the chip enables were left floating during PIC startup and initial programming, which is never a good thing. It may have been why I had some issues initially, or it may just have been solder bridges. Really not sure, but not taking any chances. This will hopefully be the final board revision (I don't see why not) and I will ship the first few units out to people who can help test and develop the menu further. Then when everything looks solid I'll start producing the boards for open sale.

Omnibot2000
Can't wait to order this! One question (sorry if it has been asked / answered before): Is this compareable to an Everdrive in the sense that you can save the games' progress on the SD-Card? SainT
No, sadly the Lynx cartridge port is more like a parellel port than a traditional cartridge port as you would find on other systems, which means you can't do anything funky like you can with the everdrive carts. Omnibot2000
Thanks for your quick answer. I was asking because I just discovered the news about EotB. I guess it is impossible to "emulate" a battery/chip for saving by adding similar hardware to the flashcard, i.e. saving games won't work at all? Then again, none of the lynx games I own other than Alpine Games support save games (if I remember correctly). So I'm still looking forward to buy your device. I'm hoping to participate in developing a Lynx game someday and a convenient flashcard like yours is exactly what I'm looking for.
SainT
It's possible to modify games to write and read saves from the memory card, so it could be done.... Edited October 25, 2019 by SainT
johannesmutlu
Also regardless of saving data from save games on the sd card, for what i do know is that the nes powerpak, the gb everdrive converts sram data into rom data in order to be enable to store & save your progress on the sd card amd/sd card, so i was thinking instead of hacking lynx games, why not just implement a chip wich is able to convert eeprom data into rom data sothat it can be saved on the ss card. Thumbs up whose wondering the same. But again as far as i know there only a few lynx games with save feature so it may be not worth to do that, just a guess. Either way i can't wait for the lynx sd card interfacer to be mine either too,hey hey!!
billysastard
No, sadly the Lynx cartridge port is more like a parellel port than a traditional cartridge port as you would find on other systems, which means you can't do anything funky like you can with the everdrive carts. that's never been a problem for me, i love these flashcards so i can access all the games and if i find something i enjoy i try to buy the cart (which would save if it had one). i'm still cursing my harmony and coleco ultimate sd for what they have cost me in buying new (to me) games and hopefully it wont be long before i get the chance to start cursing yours for the same reason
+karri
In MegaPak the eeprom is loaded into a RAM buffer at startup so the eeprom appears to be working (high scores, progress, settings) as long as you don't turn the Lynx off.

SainT
Sorry, been busy again as ever -- I seem to get things done in little bursts as I get a bit of time and then get stuck into it again. I'll be getting the firmware side of things (memory card I/O from the Lynx) finished off next. I've got some more PCB's sitting ready to assemble as well, which with any luck will be the final layout.
