rpesq
Hi, I am going to start playing Legends 1.1 soon, and during my research/reading on it, I have uncovered a few things that I would like to fix/change before playing. I would like to make these changes permanent. If anyone can explain how to do this, I would appreciate it. 1) I read here: ftp://kirklanduncorked.com/user%20groups/Sydney%20Australia/TIsHUG-1988-11.pdf that Legends 1.1 has a bug. I have no experience using extended basic, so I do not know how to load/list the program, make the change, then save it to disk so that I would not have to manually do this every time I wanted to play the game. I downloaded Legends 1.1 from Tigameshelf, and currently have loaded it with Classic99 using the V9T9 files. (For some reason, the 2nd disk -- leg2v11.dsk -- must be loaded to autostart the prog, I would have expected disk1 to be inserted first.) I could switch to Win994a if instructions to accomplish this fix would be easier. 2) I also read here on this forum, thread "Legends I tips", about a fix to stop an annoying SLOW curse: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/173213-legends-i-tips/page-3?do=findComment&comment=2187631 I assume that the same method needed to fix #1 above would also allow me to make this change, too. 3) Finally, is there any easy way to combine the two legends disks into one game disk? I would think that would be useful to more than just me. I read that the files could all be copied onto one disk. I am kind of surprised that other Ti fans of the game have not combined this into one disk already. Seems that would be useful! Thanks for any help you can provide! bobby
rpesq
Ok, to answer my own questions in case anyone else can benefit: 1) In Extended Basic, insert the disk into DSK1 that has the file LGDN/MON, then type: OLD DSK1.LGDN/MON LIST 1200 You will see that the code is actually correct, so apparently someone fixed it in relation to the old 1988 Sydney User Group newsletter. 2) To fix the SLOW spell, while you still have the LGDN/MON file loaded into memory, type: LIST 1600 Observe the existing code, then type the new code as you see in the forum link #2 above. then: SAVE DSK1.LGDN/MON 3) To combine the 2 disks into 1, I used Win994a simulator. "Create New Floppy Disk" with max parameters (2S/2D/40tr). Insert this blank disk into DSK1. Insert one of the Legends disks into DSK2, and the other disk into DSK3. Using DISK MANAGER 3 cart, DISK COMMANDS, BACKUP -- selective=N, then source 2 to 1... then do source 3 to 1. Disk would be ready to use in Win994a. For use in Classic99, rename the extension from TIDISK to DSK. Hope that helps someone else.
