Omega-TI
3) Remember to push the center button! When you see the numbers on the second row, you'll know that the disk image is "loaded" and ready to go. I so dumb forgot to press enter to select disk Hey, I overlooked that one too! Shift838
the 80 track mod on the TI FDC is very simple to do, the hardest part is getting the old chips out.
+Schmitzi
Oh yeah, one more question.... CAN YOU TURN OFF THE SOUND? From the demo's I've seen on YouTube, the sounds it makes during file access would drive me nuts. Hi, YES, you can switch sound off (got mine emu running today) In the HxC-Tool goto Settings, switch sound off (2x), save new config-file (HXCSDFE.CFG) and copy it to the root of the SD-Card (was my first act after install >>8O) Edited February 10, 2015 by schmitzi
Omega-TI
Oh yeah, one more question.... YES, you can switch sound off (got mine emu running today) Interestingly enough, in the months since I posted that and received my HxC, I now leave the sound on, just on a low setting. YOu know, I'm seriously dying to pair the HxC up with the new Myarc Clone in a few months. Rasmus will have to work overtime to write enough game programs to exceed the capacity of one of those images!

+Schmitzi
Hi, some strategy-questions before mounting my drives I have some Shugart 455, this external 3.5 BackPack from TexinTreasures, and many drives more. I also have MyArc Standard-FloppyCTRL and one MyArc with 80track-mod, have 6 PEBs, nanoPEB, F18A, about 20 TI-Consoles, some standard TI-Floppy-CTRLs any many many parts more). Now I am struggling with what to mount where My very first need is one "Copy-Machine" for converting many real-floppies to HFE. I think the 80tracker goes to another PEB later, maybe twith HFDC and Geneve a.s.o. ? (also have Thiery´s IDE-CTRL, but didn´t use all of them yet, that is coming up next months, step-by-step, because have to learn all of it) So, I think I pair the HxC on the unmodded MyArc-CTRL with the 5.25 Shugart and the 2.5" in a first step. And there is no need to do that with the 80tracker, also this format is hard to give away because only less of the 99ers who have HxC (=.HFE) also will have 80track-mod, so they can´t use big HFE-image-files. Also my FloppyDisk are also only 90 or 180 KB. The STD-MyArc herein would be great (?) as sometimes it would be nice just to boot in XB and to use the CALL DIR(x) and test some proggies.... what is the best thought for the HxC ? DSK1 ? If I config the HxC to DSK1, is there a way to bypass the LOAD by Extended Basic ? Something like "Shift-Enter" at startscreen ? Or do I have to "eject" the virtual disk everytime if want to boot into XB ? Or is there a big advantage to make the HxC to DSK1, because of all the tools like DM2K (also have GRAM-Card and some Horizons too). So I could make the Shugart-5.25 as DSK3, that may be enough for copying my Disks to HxC/HFE ? But if I understand right, then I first have to mount the Image with my Copy-CAT-Tool to startup, and then I have to remount my HxC to an empty diskimage, then initiate the copy from DSK3/5.25 to DSK1/HFE ? Do I think to complicate ? I think, it is recommended the 2.5" external must be DSK2, but I am not sure. Thanks for any suggestions, system is still dismounted Ralf Edited February 10, 2015 by schmitzi
Omega-TI
1) If you have the HDX modification, the easiest method by far is to use DSK2PC and just copy all the disks to a DOAD directory on the PC. Once on the PC, use the HxC's BATCH CONVERTER on the directory and all of the DSK files will be instantly converted to HFE format. Then all you have to do is copy them to the SD card. (This is my preferred method.) 2) If you don't have an HDX, make multiple copies of a blank HFE disk (in the format of your choice). Be sure to rename the PC format (HFE) on each one so you can distinguish what is what. You can make an original DSK image with Ti99Dir. Now you can put a diskette in one drive and either copy or backup the original diskette to the selected blank HFE disk. If you already have a ton of DSK files on your PC or just want to download stuff off the Internet, you can manipulate all of the TI programs with an awesome program called Ti99Dir (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT PROGRAM). Once you get everything setup perfect, the HxC program can convert the DSK image. If you need an DSDD/80 disk image, you are in luck! Atari age member Sparkdrummer recently posted a couple you can use and manipulate in << THIS MESSAGE >> Fred Kaal's awesome website << HERE >> has a copy of Ti99Dir that you will need. Hope this get's you started in the right direction.
+Schmitzi
yes, thanks. I have struggled through ALL this great tools the last 4 months, incl. OmniFlop. The HDX(S1 with Freds great mod) took me night for night over weeks because of serial cable-issue. Not running until today (but all other communications over RS232 are running fine, think depends on the nano but not for sure). So after months of time I gave up. (see here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.327976140727679.1073741832.326551627536797&type=3 ) So my nano is in cupboard now, OmniFlop works for importing original TI-Floppies but is not my favorite because I want to do it on the TI ah yes, naming the blank files I learned while fighting with Omniflop, but I think there you can see it on the filesize. I´ve also spent much time on TIDIR, this is best tool I´ve seen around. Also managed several disks with it on bigger disk/DSK (with bigger format), and then wrote that with OmniFlop on my PC to TI-format-disk. This was just for fun, because have to learn and understand it, and was nice to see ie the TI-Artist and fonts a.s.o running on 1 Disk on the TI yes, great effort, small gain, but big leraning 4 me It was about 1984 when I "left" TI, went via PDP11/34 to PC-Systems, so I have to learn all that stuff that came later. But this all makes so much fun like in the 80ies thanks for support Ralf

NO I don't think so, they only work on the CF7/Nano's I've seen, I have not seen a CF7 with a DSDD 80t controller maybe there out there but I haven't seen that. I only added them to help others that have the CF7 also, to keep them all in one file. great work, thanks a lot to Fritz442 Ralf NP Ralf, this is the least I can do for all the great help I've received from our AA friends Edited February 13, 2015 by Fritz442
Omega-TI
The time to buy a Lotharek HxC is almost perfect, according to << THIS NEWS STORY >>. +InsaneMultitasker
Works fine /EDIT/ some more here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.352728778252415.1073741852.326551627536797&type=3 Pretty cool How quick can you access files with the Geneve? I do want to warn you that the Geneve is meant to be inside a clamshell. You can run it bare but the card tends to rock back and forth in the PEB, especially once you have various cables connected. If you are careful, you will have no problems. However, should you decide to install the card inside a Myarc clamshell be sure you have heat sinks in place on the bottom 3 regulators (they should be installed regardless). If you use a TI clamshell, remember the tabs are conductive and will short power in bad places. Lastly, I can't tell from here but if the neck of the card is exposed, those traces are prone to shorting on the PEB slots, more so when there is no case. One or two layers of electrical tape around the neck usually protects those traces.

For the new ppl, remember to match the disks with your controller type EDIT: Added CF7 blank disks Bumping this. Has anyone made some 320K blank HFE images for use with Myarc controllers? After all, Myarc's DSDD method is different. I also wonder what happens if you try to format a 360K "standard" disk with a Myarc Controller with DM2K - I'm gathering you'll get errors? DM2K doesn't seem to know about Myarc DSDD format.
