Jaguar Bomberman

Well, I got bored and started researching unreleased Jag titles. I randomly picked Genetic Fantasia's Bomberman from Cyberroach's list, and within a few keystrokes came across a podcast interview of Mike Mika on backinmyplay.com where he announces that the original source code for Bomberman for the Jaguar has been found. It's an interesting listen, and hopefully, this isn't old news to anyone. The podcast is dated 07/05/14, so its relatively new.

Enjoy!

Very cool! I'm very tempted to contact Mike Mika since he's in the Bay Area to see if he's willing to pass the source code to the Jaguar community to see if the game can be completed for an offical release. (Sounds like he's willing to listening to the podcast) Image playing 8 players w/ 2 team taps on the jag! Talk about the ultimate party game :)

Now this would be quite something. Story back in the day was that this was complete or almost complete but that they did not get permission or licence from hudsonsoft .don't know if true but I would love to habe that game in the Jag. Especially with 8players.my 360 Version supports only 4 and that is already a blast.

The cancellation of the French bomberman clone eine by SEB?? was also quite dissapointing since it looked really good and promising. Such a pity.

I've actually been in off and on contact with Mike over the past decade to locate this source... he contacted me again this summer to let me know they had recently re-discovered it, but I have not received anything yet. Hopefully soon, as I could use another project to work on after Resurgence is available. :)

I'm one of the 5% of classic video gamers out there who NEVER really understood what all the fuss was about concerning Bomberman (in general).

I played multiplayer via the first 3 on the SNES bitd and decided to 'retry' with Saturn Bomberman multiplayer years ago (even had the Bomberman multitap!)

Yeah... I really didn't get the excitement and love people have for it. Which is a shame... for me, that is... :(

I had many late night hours of multi-player Bomberman on SNES when I was in college. There isn't anything to get, it's just blowing up your friends and sometimes yourself on accident. One of the best party games ever IMO.

Bomberman is a great party game, unfortunately Jaguar gaming is mostly a solitary business for the majority of its mini userbase 99% of the time. It'd take a bomberman with really tuned AI and some kind of compelling story mode to make me want to play through it. The Jagware one in the homebrews thread (I can't remember, was it Seb/Removers?) looked very tidy, but that's not even half the battle.

It'd have to be 2D as well, obviously. I really dislike the idea of making Bomberman go 3D just for the sake of it, it adds nothing to the experience and has the annoying side-effect of those restricted viewing angles that make couch multiplayer disadvantageous to some but not all players.

Bomberman would be a fun game with friends at AC and e/jagfest but that's a lot of work to go to just for a few hours of gameplay each year... if the old one can be brought back from the dead and be re-badged/altered sufficiently to make it legal or a quick port from another game on another platform of a clone that's proven to play nicely that would be great, otherwise it could just end up being yet another game in a box on a shelf gathering dust... nobody enjoys making games that end up that way.

I have friends at my place quite regularly.(they now always dem and express freeway:)) An 8player Bomberman would be fantastic.right now We are limited to four with everything we have which is still cool but I would have wished for more (also on the 360,why only für players:/) But I also like your idea for singleplayer levels.i always enjoyed dynablaster in St/Amiga:)
