BadPricey
Hi everyone, Just a little introduction about me and my Lynx history. I bought my Atari Lynx when I was 14 years old. Bought a fair few games for it but sold it all to buy a SNES, sad day but I needed the money. Anyway its my 40th birthday next year and I wanted a present that meant something to me and reminded me of the good old days of gaming. I decided it would be an Atari Lynx but wasn't sure what I would be buying into. I found this website and forum and it has made me realise the Atari Lynx IS that present for my birthday. It holds some great memories for me much like lots of others on here. My Lynx arrived this week with a handful of games and besides testing it out to make sure it worked I've had to box it up and put it away. In the meantime I will be reading and finding out as much information as possble about the plucky little handheld. My aim is to try and get hold of the games I had when I was a little kid. I didn't own any obscure titles so this shouldn't be too much of a problem. I hope the site doesn't mind but I downloaded one of the Atari Lynx Catalogs and put it into an A5 pdf using scribus. Catalog Atari (94089-1302).pdf Thanks for taking the time to read this. Guitari
Fantastic that you're back at 40! Seriously, as I get closer to that age I find myself with less and less time for all my consoles. Lynx is up there for me with Jag and Game Gear, but I recently sold my CD-I player, just lost interest in it and it never was in my life the first time round (upon its release). Next up on sale currently on the bay is my CDX player and more will follow I'm sure. But...Lynx I will always collect for, even at 90! gilsaluki
I just turned 55. I have had a Lynx since they were first issued. Loved it all this time. I still love those games. Love the community, Atari. Welcome to the jungle, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Enjoy your new (old) toy. Life if to be enjoyed, this is joy. Your friends may not understand, then again, they might.
BadPricey
Update on my game collecting escapade for my Lynx I have to wait for . I have collected 22 games so far which I'm really happy about. I am finding it hard to not buy games all the time but I have promised my other half I'll now wait until the New Year before I buy any more!!!! Does anybody else suffer this problem about wanting to buy everything relating to Atari Lynx?
DvdXploitr
Thing about the Lynx is, the library is small compared to other systems like the Game Boy....and there isn't that many games that cost a ton of money....look at the TurboGrafx library....its hard to find games for less than $20 that isn't Keith Courage or sports titles.... Does anybody else suffer this problem about wanting to buy everything relating to Atari Lynx? Yes, that's where it started for me! Bought AtariLynx 2, then some games, then another Lynx 2 (spare), then a Lynx 1, then all commercial release, then accessories, 3 more spare Lynx 2s, homebrew games, flash carts, etc etc. 3 years later I now have (all with many accessories, add ons, expansions etc) Atari Lynx Atari STFM Atari STe Amiga 500 Amiga 500+ Amiga 1200 Atari 2600 Sega GameGear Sega Megadrive + 32x + Sega CD Super Nintendo NES Sega Saturn Panasonic 3DO Neo Geo AES Neo Geo MVS Neo Geo Pocket Sega Dreamcast Sony PS1 Sony PS2 XBOX Spectrum +2 Commodore 64 Commodore 64C Nintendo 64 Plus several others... It all starts with just a few more Lynx games Edited November 25, 2014 by GadgetUK
BadPricey
I've made a rule I'll only collect for machines I owned as a kid. In my loft is my old MSX, Megadrive and Mega CD -not many games though. My N64 has nabbed a place in my wardrobe - approx 50 games over half have boxes etc. The Lynx will need a spot somewhere! I have owned an Amiga 600, Amiga 1200, SNES, NES, Gameboy, GameCube, Wii, Xbox 360 but will not collect for these systems. I always drooled over the Neo Geo, never owned one because the games prices were in another world. You must have a massive house GadgetUK! BadPricey
Well the big 40 arrived yesterday and with it my Lynx. I have quite a few games to play so looking forward to some gaming sessions now. So far I've had a go at California Games, Klax, Blue Lightning, Roadblasters, Joust and Super Off Road. All great so far apart from Super Off Road. Who on earth let that game get through QA? Best I could finish from around 10 races was 3rd. Got lapped all the other races! GadgetUK
Sounds like you got some great games there! Super Off Road is a bit crap isn't it - it runs too slow for the action. The 2nd worse game is that Football game I forget the name of...
108 Stars
Really? Haven't played it yet. A bit of a bummer, seeing that it is one of the expensive games for the system.
BadPricey
Probably expensive (Super Off Road) because I doubt they could have sold many, I think the reviews would have been terrible. I tried Hard Drivin' today what the hell is that all about! I also tried Warbirds and loved it. It's my new favorite game.
phantomwalker68
Hi all. Been lurking in the shadows but thought this would be a good idea to say hi too. My brother won a lynx off a radip station back in the day and used to play it to death. Litteraly as I used to have to hold the ac jack on a angle to play as it was dying on me. Anyway dont know where that went but found one with games at the local garage sale the other day and had to have it. Loving it.
doctorclu
Welcome back! I got a good laugh out of promising the wife not to buy too many games too fast. In in a way that is a good thing since it draws out the experience for you. Helps you enjoy it longer. My limitation once was "I would only buy Atari related things". I did that for a while, but there was a lot of stuff.
