slinkeey
I think that it is the header cable. I was using my TI-99, and all the sudden the screen got a Green Hue. I tried a new monitor. Same. I tried a different cable. Same. I think that it might be the header cable because I can get the normal colors if I wiggle one of the cables. Does this use a standard VGA header cable? matthew180
I'm not sure what a "standard VGA header" is, but I did not make it custom if that's what you mean. You can remove the screws from the 15-pin SUB-D connector and slide the plastic shell back away from the connector and check if one of the wires broke. This is the cable I supply with the F18A: http://www.pccables.com/07129.html The wiring is straight through and pins 1,2,3 are R,G,B respectively. Pins 13,14 are HSYNC,VSYNC. The rest are either ground or not connected.
slinkeey
I called it a header cable because some boards call the IDC socket a header, so I just called the ribbon cable / idc connector a header cable. Thanks
slinkeey
I ordered a new cable.
matthew180
Please let me know the outcome. I'm sorry you are having trouble with your F18A. If it ends up not being the cable, send me a PM.

slinkeey
Well the cable came, and I am back in the game. I am not sure what happened. The only thing I can think of is, "Made in China"

slinkeey
I work in the Wire and Cable industry. You'd never be able to make this cable in the states for a reasonable price.. Too much assembly. Edited October 30, 2014 by slinkeey
matthew180
I'm glad to know you are back in business. Finding an *affordable* header cable was the single hardest part of the F18A! Edited October 30, 2014 by matthew180
slinkeey
I bet it was.
kl99
It seems that the header cable is not fully isolated. Another user of our group and myself experienced some shortcuts when the metal shield of the mainboard gets pushed onto the header cable. It is easily fixed with some tape over the red spot that is marked in the photo. Thanks goes to Gerhard W. for finding out the source of the problem on his machine. Once it happend on my 99er as well, it was an easy fix.
slinkeey
That is interesting.. The end of the ribbon cable pushing against the shield... hmmm.. That was not my problem though.. My screen was also green when everything was wide open. Good tip..
kl99
mine didn't turn green but i thought this thread is the most appropiate to append with this info. depending which "pins" are getting shortcut, it gives you a nice color flicker effect on the display, looking very analog
