HSC11 Round 19: "R" Rocket Games

1st go at Rocket Rescue

...

Looks like you pick up 5 guys if you crash it's 3 then 1 then you are returned to the base so perhaps there's a maximum score of 20? 5menx4levels?

I've still not improved but I really like the style of the game.

 

Rocket Man 32,400 (level 6).

Rocket Repairman 7,065 (level 2) you don't get any a new space-suit on level 2, how mean is that?!

These are three very playable games. I think repairman would have been better if the dudes flight was slightly quicker and the suit was replenished for the second level.

If I ever get Ramp Rage finished I might see if I can disassemble the machine code in the Rocket Man program and make a few changes (it's in BASIC with some m/c code) - it needs a small sound adding to let you know you've got the crystals - annoying when you turn and have missed one, plus stop the letters randomly appearing in the same location where you are standing - you could just stand still and wait (not that we would do that here of course!).

 

Rocket Rescue is in Turbo BASIC so anyone can press break and LIST the program - Jan might be open to suggestions too?

 

Rocket Man I'd suspect the 2nd level is it and that's why it's so hard - would be interesting to see if we can beat it - bonus points on standby :-D

Rocket Man Level 7 32,900

Rocket Rescue - this time I took the guys home on Mission 3 without getting the fuel so I was then short for Level 4 but I still completed this having to collect the fuel on the way, but on Mission 5 I was down to vapours and crashed getting the fuel. You need to get a fuel on your way back from each mission. I thought there were only 4 missions so wonder how many there are... I think Jan made the little alien easier on Mission 3 so the game (v1.5) is now much more playable than before :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Nice little collection of some super tough rocket games. :?

 

Try though I did, I couldn't save one single soul beyond '5' in the gruelling Rocket Rescue...I did make "Space Captain" though :P . This one brings the concepts of fuel conservation and scarcity to a whole new level *sigh* :

Rocket Repair Man: A rather unforgiving jet-packer; I had a blast shooting the baddies for kicks until I ran out of air? So, not only does the suit take damage from touching any pixel of anything...your air runs out too?! I did manage recovery of 4 pieces of the craft in question until...Aargh-----:

Ok that's all for this round! Thanks for playing and I hope you enjoyed the games. Despite the initial difficulty the games were all playable. Rocket Rescue is interesting and offers a nice challenge - key is of using the l/r thrusts which don't burn fuel but stopping them in time, Jan if you're reading this nice work :thumbsup: Be sure to check out his other games especially Dracular Lives :thumbsup:

 

I won the round with Nature Boy (soon to be renamed) eeking the most points from Repairman. McKong took 2nd from the Captain after a recount ;)

Good Job BountyBob :) . I think Rocket Rescue has 8 or 10 missions can,t remember exactly.. There was a way to get extra lifes, hmm shot as many aliens you can in the shooting sequence.. i think 8 or more aliens hit then you get extra lifes, If i remember correclty., well i think its 6 aliens and not 8. If i remeber clearly.

:thumbsup: Ahh I thought there might be more to it. You have the game really very nice now, still tricky but very playable indeed :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: .

 

If you get time tweak Dracula Lives to make the tricky bits a little bit easier (at least on the first level if it has levels?) that would make that better too - I think it was getting past one of the archers when returning to the coffin that seems to be really hard?
