IHATETHEBEARS
I was nine-years old when I got my Atari back in 1980. My friend Brian and I were really obsessed with it – like many kids our age. And we actually would create our own live action version of Adventure in my parents’ basement. We found items to represent the various objects in the game. The laundry room was the gold castle. The area behind the bar was the black castle… We’d take turns hiding the objects for the other to find. Then one of us would play the “square” while the other one would alternate between being a bat or a dragon. We also came up with live action versions of Haunted House and Riddle of the Sphinx. Just curious if anyone else ever did this. Or were we just the weird ones?
+Cafeman
Yep, we frequently played live versions of atari chess and checkers! One fraternity played a live version of donkey Kong with freshman pledges, I remember. Got in trouble for it.
Torr
Me and my cousin used to do something similar in conjunction with Alex Kidd: High-Tech World. My house was Alex's castle with 8 Map pieces, some hidden around to find and weird puzzles/us pretending to be game characters to appease to receive other parts of the map! Yeah I know, today AK:HTW is not very well looked upon, but this was our first introduction to a game with the theme of a point & click adventure, and we loved it! And probably what spurred my continued love for games of those type.
Crazy Climber
Oh man did I despise high tech world. Miracle world was so awesome and I was so pumped when my buddy picked up high tech world that I just sat in school and daydreamed about it until the weekend came and we could play it. Lets just say Im very glad he bought it first. I ended up buying it from him a few months later for $5, lol. (even though I hated it I still had to catch em all)
reklen
In elementary school we played live action video games like Pac-Man and Centipede. Imagine a conga line mixed with dodgeball. This was in our P.E. class
zylon
A lot of old drivers in Old Forge, PA play a live action version of Centipede on Main St. How to play: Wait until busiest time of day and stomp on it to get into traffic, then drive 10 under the limit and see how many cars you can get stuck behind you.
