Atari 400 Defender

I sent an email to Matt at Atari Protos, he seemed interested to see pics of the contents of the item. Im thinking its probably a Reviewers copy or a Final version Beta test copy ( or a Store Demo copy ) due to the copywrite year being 1983 ( regular cart is 1982 ). BUT I told him when I get it in the mail Id share pics and anything I notice different in the game play. Also he wanted to see if I could get this dumped and I guess have it checked to see if its the same as the final version . He doesnt recall seeing a Revisision with a letter. REV . A compared to REV. 0 or REV. 7 ( like in AtariWriter ).

If anyone has any info on this cart feel free to fill me in on it. Its an interesting find that didnt cost me all that much. Coolness factor more than paid for itself.

In the 30 seconds I played no. The board says Assy. then the part number. and the chips are EEproms. Joe from Digital Press is going to send it off to be dumped so it could be compared to the final game for any differences at the next NAVA meeting at the end of November.

I am sorry, but if that is really the case, it's fake. Although I don't think there are EEPROM's that small, so maybe you have the terminology wrong.

EEPROM = Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory

EPROM = Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (UV light exposure)

:)

EPROM sounds more like it. :)

I got everything back from Joe and they didnt have the time to dump it. I have a feeling this is going to be a tester /reviewers copy of the final game. If I see John Hardie at one of these gaming events I frequent Ill ask him if he can do a dump of the game ( if it can be done ) and see what comes up.
