+bob1200xl
"Computer Program" in my cart has a 162 in 43234. My cart does not work, however. It has two 4K ROMs in it. Bob This is my theory - although we really need to hear from someone with the cartridge to confirm it.
Caterpiggle
You need to clean the pins with cleaner or with eraser.
tep392
Here's a few data points. My basic cartridge looks like the center "computing language" cart and peek(43234) gives me 162= rev A. So based on the previous post, I would say the label will not tell you which version ROM it has. My 800XL give me 234= rev C. edit: Here are ROMS.
+Larry
This same question came up about 2-3 years ago. I think the conclusion then was that B carts were not produced by Atari. "B" versus "C" -- been there; done that too, with a good discussion (2010): http://atariage.com/forums/topic/166943-atari-basic-b-better-than-c/?hl=+basic -Larry
Kr0tki
Let's see what the press said back in the day: Antic, June 1984 claims only revs A and C were published on cartridge. Antic, May 1985 says Bill Wilkinson got a review copy of rev. B in cartridge form from Atari.
Rybags
Possibly the B carts were just proto/review copies. But surely there should be people here who have complete 1200XL systems from new and could check theirs (not that many of us keep the bundled stuff together all this time). +bob1200xl
AFIK, the 1200XL did not come with a BASIC cart. I don't remember getting a cart with mine... Bob

Bob I didn't buy one new back then, but I would have been very surprised if Inc. had included BASIC for free - after all, to get BASIC with my 400 and 800 back then, I had to buy the Programmer Kit as well.

BillC
Mine is a silver label " atari basic " Should be Revision C then.
tjlazer
I have a few Basic carts, I will check them out and report back. Grey label XL style label is gonna be C right?
jacobus
All my I have a few Basic carts, I will check them out and report back. Grey label XL style label is gonna be C right? Yes I would think so. Both of the silver variations that I have are rev C
Nukey Shay
I didn't know why this was happening until I figured out it was something different with 'C' that was causing the fuji to seperate. Nope. Line 50 of the "LOGO" program contains an extra :PRINT at the end...so naturally it would skip a line regardless of the Basic rev. used during execution. +Allan
I finally got back to this... I download Atari Hangman from Atarimania and tried it with revision A, B, C. See pics. Allan
Tempest
Nope. Line 50 of the "LOGO" program contains an extra :PRINT at the end...so naturally it would skip a line regardless of the Basic rev. used during execution. That's weird. Why would they do that? If it was a typo how did it get past Atari? This logo was used on a ton of programs. I see Rev. A displays the logo properly even with the statement, but that still seems like a big bug to let slip.
flashjazzcat
Didn't a certain control code (Ctrl+R?) inadvertently act like a semicolon after the print statement in some revisions? Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Kr0tki
Control+R and Control+U. Yes, that's the issue. Edited December 15, 2014 by Kr0tki
Nukey Shay
Neat...didn't know that (never paid much attention to the native gfx characters). So a semicolon could be added before the :PRINT on that line so it will work for all 3.
thorfdbg
Control+R and Control+U. Yes, that's the issue. That's indeed a known bug in Rev.A. Due to the origin of TurboBasic, it is also a known bug there. I made a fix for this (and a couple of other issues) ages ago.

I made a fix for this (and a couple of other issues) ages ago. You fixed that bug in TurboBasic? Was it the last version of TurboBasic? If so put the next higher revision number on it and spread it around the world! Edited December 16, 2014 by _The Doctor__
flashjazzcat
I thought there was a flag in TBXL to turn the emulated bug on and off?
_The Doctor__
So it's an emulated bug to make things work properly, not a real bug.... I never had a real manual... if that's the case then TurboBasic is that much cooler. I would wish for default as bug-emu off... maybe he reversed default bug on to off in his fix?
