PeBo
I was on youtube the other day and much to my amazement, I actually found a video of an old ST game I wrote back in the 90's. My dissapointment was that it was the same version (1.8 ) of the game that appears on Medway Boys and Automation disks...which is a very early version indeed, and by no way close to the final released version (4.0) The game is my version of Parker Brother's "Sorry!" It actually surprised me when I found the early version on an Automation disc a few years ago, since I had only ever shared it with local ST Users groups, but I guess it's the 15 minutes of fame promised to us all by Andy Warhol. Well, I've never had this many Atari enthiusiasts gathered in one place, and since version 1.8 is the only one many of you will have seen, I thought I'd post the final version (from 1993) in .st disc format The computer players are a little stupid at times (ahem, coded by a friend of course), but I think it remains a good example of what was possible with the brilliant GFA Basic and compiler - which I fell in love with because of its striking similarities with TI Extended Basic (I would wager that author Frank Ostrowski was a TI enthusiast at one time!). Now that emulation makes running all my old software possible, maybe I'll go in and fix the computer player routines (version 4.1?). Then again maybe not... Anyway, Merry Christmas to all! I hope I am offering a few of you a brand new piece of ST software that you will enjoy. If this is not the place to post stuff like this, apologies and feel free to remove or relocate it. PeBo
Thanks for sharing! My kids are Sorry fans so I'll have to see how this runs Hope they forgive me...I programmed it to play by the rules I played as a kid. On the original board game, to enter "HOME" it was like "Pop-o-Matic Trouble" or "Pachesi", you had to enter by exact count. (If that was impossiblel you lost your turn.) But the way we used to play, you would "bounce", so if you needed 3 to go "Home", and you got an 11 you would move three forward and 8 backwards. We always thought it made the game more fun (since this can force you back out of the "Safety Zone"...or even "kill" one of your own men within the "safety zone"). Anyway, when it came to porting it, I spoke to some friends and they all agreed they liked my home grown rules more than the official ones, so that's what ended up in the Atari version. Hope I don't offend any board game purists out there. Edited December 15, 2014 by PeBo
lp060
Is the source code still around? It could be recompiled for the FireBee Atari clone.

PeBo
Is the source code still around? It could be recompiled for the FireBee Atari clone. I hope so...I downsized my living space a few years ago and threw out all my old 720k disks (I know, I know, but couldn't imagine ever needing them again), I know I kept a handful of them (like my sorry! source code and a bunch of graphics and cyberpaint animations I had done). Unfortunately, the little Mrs (little? maybe 30 years ago) has a habit of deciding what we keep and what we don't...if I find them (after the holidays) I will post them. Tillek
(little? maybe 30 years ago) .... And he was never seen again... to this day, in the dead of night, if you listen really close, people say you can still hear his screams! PeBo
.... And he was never seen again... to this day, in the dead of night, if you listen really close, people say you can still hear his screams! LOL! Luckily, she thinks the internet is called Facebook, and her eyes would never wander over to one of my "stupid hobby sites" (funny too because back in the days of our BBS, you couldn't get her away from the thing.) Fletch
Wow! Finally got around to playing this tonight and I am very impressed. It plays just fine on my Falcon, but I think the music probably runs slightly quick at 16Mhz. I'll have to try it on the Mega to compare it later. Thanks again! And ya, I've noticed the music timing being off when running it under an emulator too.
