Poll: New 2600 HSC moderator

So here we go, folks! I am happy to announce that we have some volunteers for the vacant position of "Atari 2600 HSC moderator".

 

Vocelli certainly left a huge footprint to fill, and we are all very very grateful for what he has done in the past few years. But I think we have three candidates who are more than able to keep this wonderful project going.

 

I am posting this because Gorfy had problems with his computer refusing to start polls in this forum. A huge applause for him as well here - for all the work he has done as Co-moderator and as initiator of the search for a new moderator. Cheers!

 

The poll will be open until Jan. 3rd at 11:59 P.M. (EST). Votes are not public. The winner will choose whether or not he wants a co-moderator and may pick from the list of volunteers.

 

(EDIT!) We have a fourth volunteer. JacobZu7Zu7. The poll has been changed accordingly. Go vote!

In theory, a great idea. But since so many people have voted already and can't change their minds now anyway, I would think we skip the election campaigns at this point. As far as I am concerned, every available candidate is capable of being a decent moderator - and we know all you guys already from previous interactions.

yeah that's why I didn't jump unless others wanted to be on board... I agree with you in a way, so.

might as well say since I know anyway, if I get chosen my plan is to keep it much the same, just with my own ideas for bonuses.

 

i think I would try to handle it all as much as possible, with the co-moderator double-checking my math, etc, and maybe taking over for a week or two in april when I'll be in Colorado.

Good news - but why not to start lhe rounds on the weekends (like last season)? -players have two weekends to play the games.

Yes, starting on weekends is a little bit better. But what I really liked was the possibility to have 2 games on weekends.

 

IMHO, the best is to start rounds on Saturdays and they run untlil the Sunday Midnight from the next week. That way, every weekend has the last 2 days of last round and the first 2 days of the new one.

It is especially appreciated when you're tired of a game, reached a plateau or rolled the score, so you still have a game to play in your weekend.

 

In fact, every round in every HSC (hint, hint) could end on Sunday midnight while every new round starting on Saturday, during the last 2 days of previous round.

that's actually our plan, to keep it how Voc. did it. Each round ends Sunday night, & the new rounds will begin every Saturday.

 

the first week would be the only exception, we wanted to take enough time to prepare, but also wanted to start as soon as possible so we just picked the 19th to start. as of today we are now ready to go y'all! really we could start it tonight but we already set the date as the 19th.

 

maybe it would still be a good idea. we'll give a shout out as soon as it is posted...

No,

 

Games always start out Mondays... and end after Sunday, a full week (unless its multi-game weeks) ...

BUT the next game in line, starts up the following Saturday, then 2 games run adjacent, until Monday when the old game reaches its deadline.

 

In simple terms, only the first game out starts on Monday. The rest will begin 5 days in, on Saturdays.
