Does the CX24 joystick also work like a paddle?

I've never owned a 7800, and was wondering how one would play games like breakout on a 7800? Sometimes the cx24 is refered to as a "paddle joystick" but I've never read any exact details on it. Does the cx24 function like a paddle control?

the cx-24 stock US pro-line stick doesn't have a paddle pot inside (even though the shaft will spin)

 

cx-30 paddles work on the 7800 for games like 2600's Breakout ...I don't recall any that made specifically for the 7800 though

 

 

 

also there ISNT an additional button on the cx-43

No.

 

There are some hybrid 2600 (one button) compatible controllers that have dual functions such as the Coleco Gemini Video Game System/Coleco Dual Command and Sears Video Arcade II joystick. However, the closest you're going to come to a CX-24 function as a paddle is with Video 61's "CX-30 Evolved", which is a CX24 shell and buttons coupled with paddle controls instead of the joystick.

 

In fact, the homebrew game from PacManPlus, CrazyBrix, utilizes difficulty switch settings of the console to specify whether joystick or paddle controls are being utilized.
