Centurion
I got a Berzerk prototype from Best Electronics for $15. It's a lotta fun. They also have Bruce Lee on cart, which wasn't available back in the day in cart form and maybe a couple others. Also, Video61 sells a lot of carts that might fall into the "reproduction" category you're looking for. Hope that helps
bbking67
There are a number of repros and fakes flying around on ebay, usually not indicated as such. B&C Computervisions is a repeat offender selling these off as new, but they are unauthorized fakes. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Superman-III-Cartridge-800-XL-XE-Atari-New-/130887232216?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item1e797caad8 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Last-Starfighter-Cart-800-XL-XE-Atari-New-/140951863831?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item20d162c217 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Pacman-Cartridge-800-XL-XE-Atari-New-1984-Rev-/140966936261?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item20d248bec5 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATARI-Kangaroo-Cartridge-400-800-800XL-1200XL-130XE-XE-XL-XEGS-/181608656099?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item2a48b82ce3 http://www.ebay.com/itm/M-A-S-H-MASH-Cartridge-800-XL-XE-Atari-/130887512811?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item1e7980f2eb http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATARI-Satans-Hollow-Satans-Cartridge-400-800-800XL-1200XL-130XE-XE-XL-XEGS-/171608009297?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item27f4a26a51 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATARI-Tower-Toppler-Cartridge-400-800-800XL-1200XL-130XE-XE-XL-XEGS-/181622971560?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item2a49929ca8 What's happening here is that B&C is burning EPROMS and re-using old Atari cartridges shells and passing them off as rare or "from his personal collection" or as old atari stock that he added shells to. It's a scam. I've previously reported it to ebay, but they do not seem to care. Edited January 4, 2015 by bbking67
ataridave
OK, well thanks for letting me know. How does the Atari translator cartridge work? Let's say I have an 800XL, with an Astrochase cartridge which is not compatible with the 800XL. Do I just put the in the translator cart, take it out and then put in Astrochase? I've never heard of a 'translator cartridge'. The translators A & B are boot floppy. I'm pretty sure you can get an Astrochase executable that will run on an 800XL, maybe require a menu disk. Have you seen a 'translator' cartridge? If there is such a thing, you'd put the cart in, and boot a disk with the program needing the translator. You definitely wouldn't boot the translator cart, then take it out. Hot swapping carts isn't normally done. bbking67
Most 800 only games have fixed versions floating around (you can find most in this very forum). Maybe an AtariMax cartridge is what you are looking for? You can load whatever games you want on it ad run them.

Not sure what you're talking about but I just looked at every one of those links and if you read the whole description it seems pretty clearly stated that it is a reproduction. We found this game in a batch of stuff we bought from Atari in 1996 when they were closing. We are producing this un-released game for others to enjoy. The original had no label or case so we have made a label and added a new original Atari made case and backing. The proto board is original Atari made. This game is identical to the original un-released game I bought from Atari. IT IS NOT THE ACTUAL GAME CARTRIDGE but a reproduction of it using original Atari parts!!! No manual or box.

It says it works on 800 only carts, so I see how you were thinking a hot swap. The only way I can see it working with other carts is if it has a pass though port, like a SpartaDOSX cart. I don't know about it. Most cartridge games have been made into binary load programs, that might require a 'menu' disk. The translator disk works by boot the translator from a floppy drive, then swap to a game boot disk. Edited January 4, 2015 by russg

AtariLeaf
Maybe an AtariMax cartridge is what you are looking for? You can load whatever games you want on it ad run them. I've been looking to buy one of these but there are a couple of different kinds on the website. Which one should i get, considering that I just want to put games on the cart and play them, especially 800 games that don't normally work on 800xl's

Well he is being deceptive for sure (some of the listings do not indicate that they are repros--they say homebrew). In each and every case here, B&C does not own the rights to the programs they are selling--it is theft and they are counterfeit carts. They are being deceptive by saying it's an Atari proto board... its an unpopulated board that they program an eeprom and stick on ebay for high prices. B&C sells other carts that look legit... but many others are questionable. Personally I think its deplorable.

Centurion
Does the Berzerk cart play the voice during the game? Or how does that work? Thanks! Yes it does. Gameplay pauses during voice, but it's cool enough it doesn't interfere IMO.

It was he and several other investors that bought out the old Atari plants, where houses and inventories of stock. It is my understanding that Atari shed their rights to the 8-bit line and those who made such purchases (ie.) bought products also bought the rights to the products and intellectual properties therein. If someone ELSE did have the copyrights to the afore mentioned titles they would have sued long ago. Therefore YOU cannot say illegal, immoral or deplorable. Do some research. And if you read before you condemn The three remaining companies all state Reproductions from the original ROMs. If you know not what you are talking about maybe you should do less talking... oo7
This is funny. Is someone worried that warner atari is going to die from the b&c sales? um news flash…… 1
