Guitari
I bought a couple of new boxed power pads recently from two sources and note the low serial nos. on both. I wonder how many of these were produced.
Rick Dangerous
Aren't the gray pads Falcon controllers? Or what is the story with these again?
Lynxpro
Aren't the gray pads Falcon controllers? Or what is the story with these again? Falcon? Weren't they were for the STE first? Well, technically, they were probably designed for the Panther and the Enhanced Joystick Ports were then added to the STE [and later Falcon] in the process. Guitari
I know nothing of the panther/falcon/ST worlds hence I wonder if many of these were produced.

Not many were produced. Probably more Jaguar 6-button controllers made than these.
Guitari
Thanks. Wow they're rare then.
+save2600
Where'd you get them and how much? The sellers have any left?

Like with the 7800 Game Pads, I think they [the STE Power Pads] were only sold in Europe. I never saw them here in the States when the STE came out and we had Atari dealers here in Sac that ordered everything they could from Atari... http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fatari-ste.anvil-soft.com%2Fgrafik%2FJoypad1.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fatari-ste.anvil-soft.com%2Fhtml%2Ffactshard.htm&h=600&w=800&tbnid=6fL88yKGELAmNM%3A&zoom=1&docid=mwHoJqqey48TNM&ei=dNayVKGtJsXtoATol4LIBg&tbm=isch&ved=0CBwQMygAMAA&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=2084&page=1&start=0&ndsp=15 http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fatari-ste.anvil-soft.com%2Fgrafik%2FJoypad2.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fatari-ste.anvil-soft.com%2Fhtml%2Ffactshard.htm&h=600&w=800&tbnid=ZzRz4YIJJ_-wIM%3A&zoom=1&docid=mwHoJqqey48TNM&ei=dNayVKGtJsXtoATol4LIBg&tbm=isch&ved=0CB0QMygBMAE&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=900&page=1&start=0&ndsp=

Major Havoc 2049
I bought my Atari Power Pad at an Atari computer dealer in the United States. I don't think they launched with the STe line though. I remember seeing them show up at Atari computer stores around the same time the Falcon was released. By that time though, everything game related at the few remaining computer stores that sold Atari computers was all imported from Europe anyways. I didn't buy mine till like '94 or '95. I remember buying Frontier Elite II, Substation and the Atari Power Pad all on the same day to play on my STe. By that time, the nearest Atari dealer was like an hour away from where I lived and I always would buy a bunch of stuff at once to make the trip worth while...lol

Major Havoc 2049
I have #792. So what does everyone think? Maybe only 1000 Atari Power Pads were made?
Guitari
It seems likely. I also wonder if B436 is the only run that they made.
Rick Dangerous
Anyone know of anywhere that stocks these? There was ONE on epay but no one bought it (overpriced) and it hasn't since been re-listed.

kimchipenguin
Bumping this thread - mine is #394. I bought it in the mid-90's in Germany when various retailers were selling Atari NOS. It wasn't sold as "rare", but more of an oddity. Supplies were significantly less than the 7800 joypad. A specific controller for the advanced joystick ports was announced during the STE's life span. The Falcon titles that were developed for Atari (Steel Talons, Llamazap etc.), all require this controller.
