This is a game DonPedro picked. I couldn't find this game being tracked on TG so I asked DonPedro for the ROMset and settings. Here's the copypasta from his PM:

The Japanese rom (rfjetj) is the one that's usually used for competitions. To run it we'd also need the parent rom - rfjet.

Dip switches can only be accessed by entering service mode (F2).

defaults are:

3 ships / play

2 bombs / ship (and this actually gives 3 bombs... strange... changing it to 3 bombs / ship gives 4 bombs :? )

difficulty normal

The rest doesn't matter as we won't be using continues or playing a special course (which is a boss rush).

You can reset the dip switches to defaults with one of menu options.

other info:

When you start it for the first time, you have to wait a few minutes for an update or something to take place. There's a counter counting down from 999 to 0. When it reaches 0 press F3 to restart the game.

You can use secret ships (slaves and fairies) - small ships with generic vulcan weapon and speed corresponding to their 'master' ship. To choose them insert coin, hold button 2 (bomb), press start, release button 2 - then pick Miclus if you want to use a fairy or any of the ships if you want to use its slave.

Yesterday morning when I finally got around to playing this game I really did not like the crazy load time. So I paused the game and tabbed out of it. No load time for me!

Anywho, this game is all about the medals. You get a big 2M medal and work to the 9 that blow up, it's wreck'in time! From the page Don linked:

To increase their value, you need to combine several of these medals (those on the ground and in the air) together with the help of your Slaves into a single larger one. This "mega-medal" can be worth up to 2,048,000 points! After you collect this "ultimate mega-medal," you have to get nine of the gem medals to appear on screen without collecting any of them. Once you have nine gem medals onscreen, the medals will all explode, signaling you that you are in the 100,000-point medal mode from the previous two Raiden Fighters games. You will start seeing the familiar 10K-100K Gold Medals from RF1 and RF2 appear[/background]

I did this 20M score with Blue Javelins slave ship.

I was sooooo close on that one. I actually got the 2M medal in the middle of the 2nd round and was getting the big 10k drops by the end. I made it to the 1st "Real" battle and things really speed up. I wasn't ready for that.
