Boulder Dash 2600 for $1,399.99 ?

It's greed and wrong, but it is a tactic.

Start it insanely high, there is always a chance it might sell.

Get everyone looking and commenting.

The take 40% off everything like just happened.

Does eBay then mass mail followers of the item they are watching is cheaper? If so, that is more free publicity that the seller doesn't have to do anything to get.

Look at completed auctions. A $20 game, a $32 CPAP mask, and a $780 Red Dead Redemption XBox collection with store displays and everything, that sold at a reduced 40% off. So it worked for that aiction.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I was thinking of something kind of like this the other day. Princess Rescue and Boulder Dash can no longer be sold on the AtariAge store (for different reasons, I know), but this guy and others like him can still (try to) sell copies on ebay for big markups and the developers get nothing.

I hope somebody pays big bucks for it, then the next day it's announced that the game will be included in the next Flashback. :D

That still does not yield you the same collectable item, that First Star created, by limiting the sale to a certain amount of copies. Some people roll that way.

I see nothing wrong with this. It sells, or it doesn't. The person who buys it has enough money and wants the item. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy it.

For the record, there will never be a re-release, and it will not appear on any Flashback variant. If you want it, you need to find one of those original cartridges.

Cheers

They'll need to drop it a whole lot lower than $840 smackers to sell. I sold mine to a fellow forum member in 2013 for $125. Great game, but it just didn't hold my interest for whatever reason.

This like many of the other games he lists have nothing to do with selling. This is a "look what I have and you don't" listing. If someone were to buy at that price great! Ka-ching! Other than that, it's an ego thing.

Weird disparity with his stuff. There's some epic items and some cheap commons, and some 2006 Playboys including a "Wet hot and Sexy" with nice NSFW cover!

Moving on... Aside from some Coleco stuff, nearly everything he VGA'd is 2000 or newer. Gotta love his enthusiasm for Mario:

$6000, er no. I've got over half the stuff in this photo, all opened and played with, of course!
