5200 Video Problem

Hi , i'm new here and looking for some help. I recently got an atari 5200 and it has a problem with the video. The video is clear and colorful but it kind of "pops" its visual and audible. When it makes the pop noise a line goes through the screen or it shifts up or down for a split second and goes back to normal. However it "pop" every few seconds. Without a cart in the screen is pretty much black but I can still hear and see the "pop". Also the controllers triggers dont work but I can handle that. I just dont know what to try to fix the video output. Im using the 5200 on a plasma with a direct coax adapter. The video looks fine except the "pops", lol.

If you can use another power jack. 9v 1amp will work center positive see if the power brick is acting up.

If you could I would jumper a secondary RF modular unit to see if that's the issue. Without looking at it and with limited knowledge since I have yet to experience this that's about what I'd do before I would just do video mod and see if it still exsisted.

I would also check with a second GTIA chip or possibly one of the capasitors in the power to video circuit between the GTIA and the RF modulator.

Good luck
