7800fan
I wanted to tidy up my messy wire management. One thing that are in the way is the AV switch box. Currently I have 6 Pelican 5-ports switch box, 5 of them wired into one box and allowing me up to 25 systems to a single AV port. I have looked around and it seems very few were made over 6 ports and virtually none of them has S-Video support. And beyond 8, it seems like I am looking at pricey TV studio type hardware. Does any of you know if there is a switch box with at least 15 inputs. Of all the game consoles and other devices I have, only Intellivision, FB Coleco, and NES doesn't have S-Video support. Failing that I may have to build a custom switch box. .

BTW, the Amazon photo shows tow units stacked so you can see the back and the front. Push buttons on the front, ports on the back. http://www.amazon.com/MT-VIKI-Splitter-Selector-Adapter-MT-831AV/dp/B00DRGDBTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423283403
7800fan
That 8 port box doesn't have S-Video :/
+GoldenWheels
I did lots of looking when I set my stuff up and though I did not look for S-video specifically 7800fan (I am composite only), I looked at any AV switch I could that was more than 4inputs. I don't think I saw even ONE that had S-video AND 8 inputs...and 8 inputs seems to be where even composite maxes out. Most inputs I saw with S-video was 6 I think, with most boxes being 4. I ended up with the exact same thing as stardust actually.
copper20
Are there any cheap S-Video 8 port AV switches available? I hate how so many of them are only 4 switches, when I have 6 consoles that need S-Video (N64, Genesis, PS1, Saturn, Dreamcast, SNES, Sega Master System) and I'm forced to pick between which ones to have it on. Just asking. I can do without S-Video on my NES and atari 2600 by putting the NES on my VCR's composite and Atari 2600 by direct RF input on my TV. Master Phruby
I came across this 8 switch s-video only for $210. Comes with an ir remote. http://www.kvmswitchtech.com/s-video-switch-with-ir-remote-8-port-p46927.htm
Master Phruby
You could get a bunch of s-video to composite cables like this: with a
7800fan
Still maxes at 8 devices. I am still using 6x AV switch boxes by Interact. 5 goes into the 6th one. Gets me a total of 25 devices with S-Video support, and 6 of that boxes plus extra cables were around $50 total. I'd still like one box solution that won't cost $200 or more. +Ksarul
Anything above 8 ports is going to be a television studio product--as there just isn't enough consumer demand for massive source switching to make such a product worthwhile. You want one--but not many others do. Setting up a manufacturing line for the 50-100 users who want one would make the total cost jump up into the range for studio equipment--and the studio stuff is designed to take hard punishment, so a comparison of features would drive those who wanted such a device to buy the studio product instead of the consumer product. That leaves two options: build your own or buy a studio-grade product. Building your own would probably be cheaper--and you might be able to remove the boards from all of those six-port devices you have and wire them up to connect into one monstrous device internally. . .with just five ports visible from each due to the jumpers from board to board using up the sixth port. 7800fan
So back to custom build plan... rotary switch with multiple poles and multiple posts are cheap on eBay. A metal project box, a few ports, some wires, and dremel and I should be able to make one.
