So, how do YOU plan to use 2.88 Megabytes?

Looking into mid to late 2015, when people have the "Myarc Clone" and of course have "MAXED IT OUT" with four drives, real, virtual or a combination of both, it begs the question...

How are you going to configure and exploit all 2.88 megabytes that's now available at one time?

I've come up with some basic ideas, but I'm sure there has got to be a better way

I use my 102MB quite well :)

How do you have your disks configured/setup?

I was thinking:

DSK1. All of my utilities, programs, shared files and menu/loaders.

DSK2. All of my games that do not need to reside on DSK1.

DSK3. All uploads/downloads and possibly graphics

DSK4. All text files disk - or - projects disks.

Problem is, I'm either going to have to start linking MENUS or start looking for a new program.

I could not find anything under 100MB SCSI for a reasonable price. Even this one was a little higher than I wanted to pay, but still pretty useful. I have considered more than once putting one of my spare Zip drives in the box instead of the hard drive.

I have copied a lot of disks onto the hard drive in various sub-directories. I would love if DSK emulation could be completed for the SCSI card as I have run into a few which are hard-coded to use DSK1. Plus that would allow me to selectively auto-start XB, and what-not. My new Myarc 512k card does support DSK emulation but it is volatile.

I gotta get off my ass and set my gear up again. It's all in boxes. I have a TI-99/4A with PEB and RAM disks, a Geneve, and even a fully tricked out Becker SGCPU system with HSGPL and SCSI and Zip drives, the whole shootery.

Damn shame to have it all in boxes in the loft.

Brother, brother, brother...if you're going to let all those boxes gather dust in the attic, just send the lot my way!!

Think of the brownie points you'd get with the Mrs, making all that additional space available for shoe storage!

And the thought of that geneve packed away alone in the dark makes me cry real tears!

Yep, Ksarul mentioned it in << THIS POST >> :)

Sorry I've been a bit out of the loop lately - "Myarc Clone"?

I may end up getting a second HxC after this controller card is released (provided a new menu program is ever developed). Since each HxC can behave as two drives, that means with two HxC's, one can have a total of 2.88 megabytes available at one time (with no modifications). Considering the size of TI files, that's a lot of CHIT!

I think I remember that 32GB cards are the max with the unit, so with two HxC's that's a potential of 64GB of TI goodness. Honestly, how is a guy ever going to fill that up! Seriously though, one could run with two tiny 4GB cards and be very happy.

I eventually see the day when someone makes a software controlled virtual HD to run off the HxC, because quite simply the hardware is already here and available.
