Guitari
Hi All I've seen a unit with Pal B on the label underneath and one with Pal I ..... Do all Pal units work in all Pal territories with all Pal games? Any info would be appreciated.
Rybags
The subtypes mainly have to do with the frequency difference of audio and video over RF. Game compatability among PAL is no problem. The problem you can have is if using a PAL machine of one subtype on a TV for another. You can tune into the video but not have audio. Many modern TVs have country selection or can change the PAL subtype within the system menu. Or just get a composite or S-Video modification, PAL subtype has no relevance when using other input types.
Guitari
Thanks rybags. I'd better check my TV!

Guitari
My smaller TV Accepts these receiving channels VHF (BAND I/III) UHF (BAND U) HYPERBAND Hyperband sounds promising?!

high voltage
PAL B is Germany and uses VHF, which UK didn't have. Basically PAL-B wouldn't work in UK. PAL-I works on PAL-B TVs, but the little switch inside the console needed retuning.
Guitari
Well I got a PAL I from evil bay. Sure as mustard there are problems. Built in Asteriods is rolling on the screen when the carts are fine at the same tuning and one of the direction pads on one of the controllers wont work. I'll have to open the pad and investigate. But can anything be done about the rolling screen? also does anyone have a UK 7800 manual and an Asteroids manual spare I can buy? These were missing. I did have the pleasure of ripping the plastic right off the metal strip on the console.

Guitari
Yep that bitch was ripped right off! So now it seems like a 1986 console with 2015 metal! No takers on the rolling screen for asteroids problem? I've now fixed the faulty joypad too. I've noticed a crunching sound when inserting a cart; there's no debris in the slot though and I cleaned it too..mystery. I might be up for trades with shit games for good ones Got fighting titles I'm not into (can't remember the names right now) Will be looking to get pole position 2, xevious, ball blazer and a few others. +Mitch
I suppose the internal Asteroids ROM chip could be going out. Atari shipped some of these on EPROM, so if that's the case it could be quite possible. Mitch
Guitari
Thanks Mitch, I don't suppose there's an easy fix if so..?
+Mitch
You would need to replace it. Mitch
