bikeguychicago
I saw this eBay listing and found myself thinking "gee, this looks vaguely familiar". Did Mattel sell off the unsold Music Synthesizers after Mattel Electronics folded? I've never heard anything in this regard before.
Tempest
It certainly looks like one. Even the sticker is the same size. I guess someone bought the remaining units and repurposed them. Not sure what kind of plug that is on the end though.
carlsson
That is a card-edge connector to the Commodore 64 user port, as partly indicated by the listing. The user port has an 8-bit I/O interface, among other signals.
bikeguychicago
Sounds like a question for an episode of 'Ask Keith'
+BBWW
I does look like one...at least sourced from the same place.
freewheel
Near as I can tell, this keyboard was introduced in Spring 1985. So it could have been re-purposed overstock. Not sure if they'd have had to muck with the internals - we really need the resident electronics gurus to chime in on whether the user port could drive a piece of INTV hardware with little to no modification. It could just be the same case, but from the looks of it this had a pretty limited release. I doubt anyone would have gone to the trouble to manufacture these from scratch in such small quantities. intvnut
It looks like they lobotomized it though. It's missing 11 of its keys!
+cmart604
Yah thats what I was thinking. I thought something looked really weird about it.

Wow... this is very interesting. The Intellivision was capable of creating beautiful sounds and I am happy to know that it is getting recognition from music professionals. I used to connect my Intellivision only to listen the music to the He-Man game. Thunder Castle is another one of my faves. Thank you for sharing.
