danwinslow
Hi Folks. I am testing a bit3 board. The monitor I'm using is a commodore 1084S. The 80 column mode works very well, but the board also has a din connector that's supposed to go into the Atari 800 console monitor output jack. The manual seems to say (I think) that this connection is so I can see the usual 40 column stuff on my monitor as well as the 80 column stuff (depending on mode of course). It strips off 2 wires from the plug and joins the main lead at a ring magnet that it's all wrapped around. So, my situation is that I can't see any of the 40 column stuff. The monitor output itself works fine. Could the monitor plug be broken, or do I understand things incorrectly?
AtariGeezer
Yes, the DIN cable that plugs into the Monitor Port provides the 40 Column Composite Video to the Bit-3. In 40 Column Mode, the Composite Video is passed-thru the Composite Out of the Bit-3. Going by the user manual, there are 2 ways to return to 40 column mode: 1) Hold down option while pressing reset. 2) In Atari Basic, type: A = USR(54879) To set the Bit-3.to 80 column mode In Atari Basic, type: A = USR(54818). So you mean that your Bit-3 is always stuck in 80 Column Mode?
