jfmateos
I have just got this Videopac G7200 and wanted to share some photos. I have a pair of questions... - There should be a spring below the joystick action button? Neither of the two action buttons work. - On switching on, very odd graphics appear on the screen, something like a chessboard (see last images) until I push the red button to select a game. Is this normal? Thanks
Omega-TI
Thanks for sharing the good quality photos. It was nice see some different angles on this unit interior. BTW - Nice looking unit you have there! From the photos it looks to have been well preserved.
vectrexroli
Nice find, looks pretty nice and clean. I don´t know now about that spring as I only used 9 pin Joysticks adapters so far and avoided using the original joysticks. If you have a TV with RGB Euro SCART connector it is also worth building the cable for video out, but I guess you will know that already. It is absolutely normal that you have to press the Reset button at the beginning of the game after switching it on. Maybe you also will build a Flashcart yourself as you are an electronic genius, but just in case there is the C7051 flashcart and the DIP switch multicart you might have seen on my Youtube channel, I don´t know if there is still the possibility to get on the list for a C7051, packratvg.com now sells the DIP switch multicart, just in case you don´t know. Probably I will make a Rewritable cartridge compatible with my burner.

Rolo
- There should be a spring below the joystick action button? Neither of the two action buttons work. - On switching on, very odd graphics appear on the screen, something like a chessboard (see last images) until I push the red button to select a game. Is this normal? 1. I just opened my joystick. The spring is built in between the action button and the upper part of the housing. You should feel how it reacts, if you press the button, even if the joystick is disassembled like yours on the photo. There is no additional spring outside. To get to the spring, you have to pull off the washer, but probably this is not your problem. How about the contacts off the white plastic membrane? Maybe you can carefully clean those with alcohol and cotton swap. 2. Normal: Random content of RAM. My console does that too. Best regards. Rolo
Right beneath the plastic action-key-cap. You can't see it. Only if you disassemble the action button itself.
jfmateos
Thanks Rolo... I understand now. My two joysticks had the action button broken and the springs have dissapeared.
Rolo
Oh, can you repair the buttons? If you need a picture, what the springs were looking like or some dimensions, I can dissassemble one of my joysticks and take some photos.
jfmateos
It would be very nice of you. Thanks.
Rolo
Ok, here I go! It's a little bit dirty, but it is 35 year old RETRO-dirt ! In the meantime I've cleaned the thing. It is really a simple construction and you can take any small spring (not much resistance) you find in your drawer. It is easy to pull off the washer, if you keep turning it while pulling. Good luck! -Rolo
