Lost Dragon
Basically if anyone here or anywhere else has issues with anything i do, just put me on ignore, don't bake your head fretting about what i use or how poor my wording is just use that ignore function. What i find most laughable is that whilst i found all these industry people just by using the PS3 Web Browser search engine and my Gmail account on I.E on 360, it seems certain people on here as well as other sites, could'nt do the same, cue PM's from all manner of people asking me to put questions to my contacts on their behalf... Hold on, you people PC's, SKYPE, FACEBOOK etc etc, your spelling is spot-on, how come you could'nt take the same route i did, invest a bit of time and reach out to the industry yourself and see if people wanted to answer your questions?. None of the piss-taking, the scorn, whatever else gets served up on a daily basis has had any real effect.I still research on behalf of... i still choose to share findings on here. It really is that simple...

Lost Dragon
Actually scratch last. People seem to jump in here for the entertainment, more so than actual reasoned debate over just why Rayman might have been delayed.... It's been falsely claimed in my time on here i was banned from another forum, before that i was someone else posting under a new user name. I probably should wait until the next full moon before i post a 'I Woz Robbed, Guv!/I'm the victim of a right bleedin stick-up, i can tells ya' type post. Any real drama needs that special blend of music, just to set the scene properly and i'm shit right out in that regard at present. Perhaps a bit of Soul is called for and of course the search must go on for someone to play the star of the show. It's really a Core part of the main design..... I can't read..i can't write... I'm not really a Cider drinker (though do enjoy a tipple now and then) I've no Tractor, nor Trailer, nor Combine-Bailer. It must be...The Westcountry in me.... All utter nonsense this, so should fit in nicely. Edited August 9, 2015 by Lost Dragon
phoenixdownita
I was harping on your systemic usage of "wrong" syntax/orthography which has absolutely nothing to do with the devices you use to type, actual pen and paper would not make it any better. Regarding the content of your researches, some are fun, some yawn inducing, I believe I state the obvious in saying that if they were completely missing no harm would come so in the end this is all about our entertainment. The same way you are free to post so we have the freedom to reply to said post on its content/form/shape/graphic etc...etc... The fact you have enough drive to use whatever tools you have attempting to enlighten the rest of us on the "what happened/what didn't happen" is completely decoupled to take a syntax critique constructively and apply it to bettering yourself. Regarding the actual content of this very thread I still fail to understand what the heck Sony stance on Worms had to do with the Rayman conspiracy that wants us believing that Rayman "could of been released one year earlier" [yes I am being a smart ass here] and "could of saved the Jag" [i did it again, how annoying]. So what is the implied connection? Edited August 9, 2015 by phoenixdownita
Lost Dragon
That's the nature of research though, if you start to look into a format, your not going to deliver results that appeal or please anyone, nor should you really be aiming for mass appeal. Indeed the world and indeed this very forum would of continued as it has without myself or others posting, such is the nature of the beast, but the fact is that the tools which are often mocked did manage to deliver the answers at least some sought and so the journey was not utterly wasted and it's really about the journey, not the means of transport used. People likes PS1 AVP, no-one had managed to get an answer regarding Conan, etc yet PS3 Web Browser used there in both cases.. The Sony/Worms/Anti-2D Stance is intended to indicate to those who might tend to believe otherwise that Sony (perhaps USA more than Europe), really was'nt all that interested in 2D to showcase the Playstation and thus were most unlikely to delay the release of a 2D Platformer on a niche format, already struggling at retail. phoenixdownita
.... thus were most unlikely to delay the release of a 2D Platformer on a niche format, already struggling at retail. ...so to summarize the Worms interlude .... the point was to reinforce that there was no conspiracy. Just reread the OP post, so yeah .... now it's clear. I guess this whole thread was never really about the conspiracy itself but what may have started the rumors there even was one. Lost Dragon
Exactly :-) To myself, i never saw any such conspiracy, as likes of Team 17 had made it very clear years ago, Sony were'nt at all interested in Worms at the start as it was 2D and the whole marketing angle of the 'Power Of The Playstation' was it's 3D abilty, not 2D. The extra Team 17 comments just sat nicely with the earlier post from the RG article i quoted from. ] Edited August 9, 2015 by Lost Dragon
Lost Dragon
Whilst chasing up a few loose ends for Unseen64 , i found claims a 3DO version of Rayman had apparently been annouced? but when later asked why nothing had been seen of it since, they annouced it it had been killed off in favour of the 32X version. Ubisoft said they felt the 32X had a better chance at commercial success than the 3DO. Just thought i would include as it appears to add further background information to Ubisoft doing what a lot of publishers did back then, annouce games for formats before any actual coding was done and kill plans off once it was apparent specific formats were withering on the vine at retail.
Flojomojo
Did I imagine it, or was there an ending of Jaguar Rayman with a little message from Michel saying something to the effect of, "we love the Jaguar?" I can't find anything about it online, so maybe it was a myth or mock-up or deleted screen that contributed to the conspiracy theories?
Lost Dragon
I would raise a glass to anyone who managed to finish Rayman on Jaguar,i never managed it, nor Rayman II on DC or Rayman Origins on PS3.

Yeah, I know about those sites and that's what I was talking about when I said I couldn't find it online. I wish I could remember if I saw it in a magazine or with my own eyes on my own machine (using cheat codes, of course -- because the game is hard as brass balls) but I don't think I imagined the jag-friendly franglais message I saw.
Zerosquare
Are you sure it's not one of the messages that appear when you enter a code on the title screen? https://www.ign.com/wikis/jaguar-cheats/Rayman_Cheats

There is this text string in the ROM: LA JAGUAR EST MON AMIE, ET RAYMAN AUSSI, ALORS LAISSEZ LES VIVRE !! Which Google translates to: JAGUAR IS MY FRIEND, AND RAYMAN ALSO, THEN LEAVE THE LIVES !! Pete5125
I will add that yes this game if atari could of got it released a season sooner and done like sega did with sonic. 1st add it as a pack in and 2 paid for a quick sequal to be produced could of helped the system be more successful. It being a packin could of slowed down the Walmart feascal where they were returned most of the system sold with the boxes destroyed, as kids that got the jag over the sold out ps1 and saturn may not of been as upset with a rayman jag vs a cybermorph jag. But, like everybody had said. Atari at this point had went after none of the type of games kids liked. They didnt have mortal kombat, no street fighter, not even samari showdown. Sports games which were important, again Atari didnt foccuss on them either, Race car games Atari had mainly badly made options(burnout and power drive being exceptions) Ratio of great games about 10, to good games maybe 10, to bad or 16 bit looking the rest. Raymond does help with the argument jag can do a game just as good as ps1/saturn, I guess zoop, theme park, and nba jam say the same. I'm no French scholar but I think it translates to something more like "SO LET THEM LIVE!" As in, may they live a long happy life, not "don't kill them." Definitely a Jag-friendly statement no matter how you look at it, and possibly a question that should be asked of Ancel in an upcoming interview.

Just imagine what they would have done for Rayman. Something whose legacy is still going strong 20 some years later.
Bill Loguidice
Of course the Zoop dev comment is 100% a joke. The lo-fi visuals are the same on all platforms.
