mxpxpxpx
My friend found his Sega Master System in his attic (it has been there for a long time). I can not get it to read cartridges, cards work. It turns on and hang on, safari hunt works. I can also do the hidden maze. It just seems to be the cartridge slot. Also the controller ports seem broken. I have to hold the connection down to get the controller to work. I have tried all his games and controllers on my working SMS and they work fine. I also cleaned the cartridge slot with a credit card cleaning pad. Any help would be great. Thanks Matthew.
coyo5050
I had a similar issue with one of mine and it turned out to be some broken solder points on the cartrdige connector. I re-flowed the solder and that fixed the problem. May or may not be your issue and depending on your skill it may or may not be an easy fix. mxpxpxpx
Thanks again for the response. I have no idea what a broken solder point looks like. Everything looks good on the circuit board. I have a solder gun and can try to repair it. Thanks again.

bust3dstr8
Just shotgun all the solder joints on the controller connections to be sure. Put a dab of flux on each pin and reflow with a bit of fresh solder.
