simbalion
I love full-sized upright arcade games because of the art and their presence and have always found the Cocktail and Caberet styles to be a bit bland in looks. Though I admit, I like the smaller size of the Caberet. What would be considered the best looking Cocktail or Caberet style cabinets? +save2600
I'm partial to the Williams cabs, such as Joust and Defender. Midway with Pac/Ms. and Space Invaders. The Taito and Atari cabs were nice enough looking too. Could not stand those Nintendo tent styled things though. Even Donkey Kong, in that brown all metal cabinet and cream colored bezel left a lot to be desired IMO. Those mini cabaret cabs now... goofy beasts to be sure. I like their concept and styling well enough looking at them from the front, but why no side art? Just the plain woodgrain. Could have been almost any solid color with some side art, but nope. Then again, I kind of like the woodgrain look, observation more of a curiosity is all. Thought it strange back then, and guess I still sort of do. simbalion
I always wondered that with the caberet cabs myself.. Why no side art? Maybe it is because they were more aimed towards bars and clubs and the woodgrain would have been considered less garish?
ledzep
I'm surprised no one has come out with custom sideart for most of those cabarets. As for the cocktail cabs, I liked the side-to-side Joust and Space Wars, very odd look compared to the traditional opposite sides layout. Nebulon
The TRON cocktail unit is pretty neat. It has miniature flight sticks (and the spinner, of course).
simbalion
I always kinda thought the Space Invaders cocktail looked neat with that toggle switch to control your gun unstead of the buttons or joystick. Another cocktail I like is the one Midway used for its black and white bowling game. It had and oval top that placed the players at opposite ends. racerx
I always thought the Atari Football looked great.

simbalion
Midway had a neat looking cocktail style for Tornado Baseball. Wonder if it had the reflected background though? http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=flyer&db=videodb&id=1624&image=
