JAGUAR

Recommended Posts

Think it requires some 60Hz testing - the Removers text is off the screen on the menu (mostly).

Game blackscreens at both 50 and 60Hz as soon as the game is started on this particular machine I have set up with a skunk2 (anywhere from instantly to approx 1.5 seconds after game screen is shown).

Game says "Press Fire" - the de facto fire button on Jaguar is B, might be best to switch to that from A.

If whoever the mystery coder is wants a tester who knows his arse from his elbow, won't just say "well done, great!" but offer useful feedback and has multiple revisions of hardware for both PAL/NTSC/50/60 then e-mail sh3-rg at ntlworld.com

If this has been coded entirely using the emulator as a target, there are a few things to be aware of that might be getting missed.

EDIT: VJ died running this. A converted JiFFI ROM made it as far as running via skunk - black screen after pressing A.

Red screen in VJ. Enjoyable video though.

I had an old version of VJ that would always red screen with a bjl-style file the first time I tried to load it, but worked the second. Try it twice, just to be sure if you see that if you're not using the latest builds of VJ.

Thank you for the addition of the download link on Youtube.

Convert the file with Jiffi to J64 then it works with Virtual Jaguar but freeze during the game after one minute.

You edited the post before I finished my reply, so... GOOD WORK IP.Board #1

OK, if you graze the A button like its some sort of reaction timer test you can get the game to start, and sometimes the invaders will even move and fire shots - but the instant you try and do anything yourself.. boom!

If whoever wrote it would like some help or, as sh3 said above, if they'd like some useful feedback, I'd be happy to help out or discuss here on AA.

Maybe the person who posted the video on YouTube is the creator. Couldn't they be contacted on YouTube..

Oh he seems to be. I've posted on the video regarding the results above, maybe he will make an account and post here (or at least reply on yt).

Just noticed the YT video says it's done in Project Tempest. That's not the best dev environment if that's how he's made it, VJ & skunk combo FTW.

Google translate did a fair job at translating that, but it seems like this has been an ongoing issue for his game? That's a shame :/

Without an account I cannot grab the different builds or see the photos of it running on someone's machine...

Is there a version that works on skunk/VJ? Emulators are a little forgiving in some respects, some more than others. Project Tempest is possibly the worst emulator to use for development, it's just not going to give an accurate picture of what hardware results will be.

New try this evening this time I paid attention to what button I pressed:

Then the game start by pressing A, A is the only button to fire and it works in VJ (on Mac Intel) but only for something like 20 seconds then the game is freezing.

i have not burn a CD but to make it works on VJ I used Jiffi to get a j64 file.

You should have heard about jiffi, it is just the best things ever from human kind that changed our lives (with Einstein's E=MC2 ) :D

Hello everybody!

JMSI was developing with an emulator-Project Tempest, and it was a very, very bad idea. I have been spending a lot of time to make it working on a real Jaguar :( The "Youtube version" is not the latest one, but it worked on a few Jags, you should _load_ it with Skunkboard into the Jag's RAM , don't flash it- it will crash! I'm on holiday for 2 weeks, so be patient, and wait for updates ;)

Regards riggs

P.s. Thanks for the Feedbacks :)

Thanks for making an account and giving us more details, Riggs. I need to try on some of my other Jaguars, the one I'm currently using does not want to cooperate.

There are definitely people here who can help you track down the issues preventing your game working on different machines.

Oh and very nice to see more people making Jaguar games \o/
