sh3-rg
First off this is obviously not a PlayStation emulator running on the Jaguar as such - that would be a stretch to say the least. 64% of the emulation actually takes place inside the skunkboard itself, utilising the untapped potential of the practically unused onboard FPGA, it uses the Jaguar mostly as a video output host for screen buffering and DSP audio processing. Unfortunately, the emulator will only work with skunkboards that have the regular-sized USB Type A sockets present. This might be temporary, we're looking at a work-around, but for now it's simply not possible to make this work with USB-less skunkboards - sorry :/ Installation instructions are simple but please take care to follow every step IN ORDER: You'll need a USB drive (1GB+ recommended) and a standard USB Type A Male-to-Female cable. Create a directory in the root of the USB drive "PSXEMU", then download, unpack and copy the emulator from here: http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/epsxe.html WARNING: *MUST* be the 1.9.0 version of the package or results cannot be guaranteed. Place the USB drive into a free socket on the skunkboard and the correct end of the USB cable in the other free socket. Place this cable near to BUT NOT YET INSIDE a free USB socket on your PC or laptop. *IMPORTANT: DO NOT CONNECT THIS CABLE UNTIL PROMPTED TO DO SO ON SCREEN OR RESULTS CAN BE UNPREDICTABLE*. Download the PSX bootloader ROM and flash it to *BANK ONE* of your skunkboard: psemu.rom *There are currently some minor issues using bank 2 - use at your own risk. Again, sorry, this is very much Beta software. When you have completed these steps, the familiar PSX intro should display. Follow the on-screen prompts. Controller maps: C, B and A correspond to SQUARE, TRIANGLE and CIRCLE. 3 is used for X. With a Pro Controller, L1 and R1 map to the triggers, use with 6 on the keypad as a shift key for L2 and R2. Shamus
How does Tomb Raider in this emu compare to the early Tomb Raider builds native to the Jag?TBH it compares quite favorably which is quite surprising given the crudeness of this approach. walter_J64bit
Wait, what? We get a PSX emulator but we can't get a working 2600 emulator? How dose that work? Say this should be fun to try out, I do have a PSX game here somewhere. Edited April 2, 2015 by walter_J64bit
Zerosquare
This is really, really impressive. All you need now is to add sound emulation, and it'll be perfect!

+BitJag
Oh, I forgot to ask. Is their usb paripheral support for the emulator planned? I would love to hook in my USB dance pad and give Dance Dance Revolution a go on my Jaguar.

sh3-rg
How does Tomb Raider in this emu compare to the early Tomb Raider builds native to the Jag? Just a little chunkier than you might expect, you'd have to experience it tbh.
ovalbugmann
You'll need a USB drive (1GB+ recommended) and a standard USB Type A Male-to-Female cable. Create a directory in the root of the USB drive "PSXEMU", then download, unpack and copy the emulator from here: http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/epsxe.html Wow! This is totally great news! Thanks sh3-rg!!! I've only really used emulators for the Dreamcast and PC so I have a few questions right off the bat before I get started with this, hopefully it's not something I will plainly see the answer to when actually setting this up, lol. - The USB Type A(regular, basic) connectors on the Skunkboard are both female and accept a male plug like a USB flashdrive and all the USB Type A connectors on all my Windoz PCs are also female to plug stuffz into them - So do I need to buy a; USB Type A male -to- USB Type A Male cable instead?? cause I don't think I have one of those around here. All my USB extension cables are the Male to Female type. -Am I also going to need these files on the above linked page to use this emulator with the Jag?: ePSXeCutor 1.0.6.0 ePSXe configuration utility Windows Freeware Jun 4, 2008 192 Kb. Delta 2.01 ePSXe auto configuration tool! Windows Freeware May 27, 2005 1715 Kb. -And lastly right now, how/where do I put PSX games into this setup, I barely glanced at the FAQ for this but do I need to find PSX ROMS(digital files)? and if so, what folder do I put them in?, or as I am gathering from the FAQ, will I need actual PSX game CDs(or burned backups)? to put in the Jaguar CD Player? Thanks in advance for any answers given, as this sounds like something I really would like to try on my Jag!!

More news here : http://www.amidog.com/amiga/fpse/ Next special Jaguar release in about 364 days... Is this a workable option for real Jaguar hardware?? If so then, to try it, do I just substitute this BERO written emulator in your link: FPSE 0.10.4 (The 2012-06-25 releases):AmigaOS3 (M68k) in the same folder where the ePSXe emulator is in sh3-rg's setup?
+rdemming
I don't need a PlayStation emulator, I'm too busy playing with the new MS-DOS Mobile released by Microsoft yesterday. Download it for your Windows phone in the Microsoft's app store and enjoy the simplicity of the C: prompt.
