Rhomaios
Not really Atari, but surely the company had some input/money in on it:
Nutsy Doodleheimer
Not really Atari, but surely the company had some input/money in on it: Miss the days before it was Nesquik and the powdered mix was in the aluminum canister and pryed off with a spoon.

El Destructo
Two more for your consideration from the Spring of 1982:"Yars' Revenge:" "Only Atari Makes the World's Most Popular Home Video Games:" I scanned them from VHS tape myself and posted them to YouTube. cyburg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_XrIx2eUGc I also like the commercials with that atari song and this at the end:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opVmjPGzBUg
Nutsy Doodleheimer
I also like the commercials with that atari song and this at the end: When I was a kid I thought that was Erik Estrada from CHiPs in that commercial
sloth-machine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAe2IvEl9kI Centipede commercial is my all time favorite, never will game commercials be like they use to, hell they rarely even make game commercials anymore. I also dig the already mentioned "The Fly" commercial. It was made from the same company who did the special effects for Tron. All hand drawn animation, made to look like 3D polygons. Pretty awesome and ahead of it's time. Apparently the commercial was shown during the previews of Return of the Jedi. I also like the 2600 Dig Dug commercial, with the grounds caving in, great little commercial for a great little game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K2HTb2-R2M
Nutsy Doodleheimer
@Retrogamer... funny you bring up the 7800's release with the Jr. Don't believe I ever saw a single 7800 commercial ever. In fact, trying to remember here, but don't believe I even knew the 7800 existed until I saw a bulk stack of them at Montgomery Ward's BITD. And that's only because I was just hired to sell electronics there! Don't recall seeing any 7800's at Toys R Us either, although I do remember seeing the XEGS proudly on display there. I think there were a couple 7800 commercials. This one is a classic featuring Donn Nauert captain of the American Video Game team!!
imstarryeyed
I think for me the retro Atari commercial that brings back so many memories and is so very 80s is megamania.. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WX-uu-kredU The effects and fashion and music were just perfect for the times.

+RichG1972
I like THIS commercial because the voice of the Demon is none other than Gregg Berger the voice of Dinobot GRIMLOCK in the 80's cartoon THE TRANSFORMERS
AtariKid81
If I had the mula(money), I would get all the old Atari commercials digitally restored, including the third party's, and make them available for viewing on the Atari Museum website. My favorite of all time: "The Return of Centipede". I can only imagine the response to the guy who pitched this one! It might of gone something like this: "So let me get this straight Vic...you propose a centipede, playing a saxophone, at "Club Centipede", with a scantily dressed woman, recently abducted (by said centipede), dancing seductively nearby. In addition, she has insect-like antenna's in her hair with a zombie like expression on her face...." Hmmm - sounds like a winner!! It doesn't get any better than this! Mef
Sweet thread. And already one of my all-time favs in the very first post: ICE FUCKING BY ACTIVISION! Always makes me laugh. Next on my top list would be the hillarious "SOME GAME!?" (Star Wars The Arcade): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPMbYFThBxo Venture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iELqlgcHe3Q and "(...) going on a sunday drive - Oh no, you ain't. You're gonna play ... The Ice Hockey one from 1982 is my all time favorite!! I was absolutley crushed when Phil Hartman was killed by his bitch ass wife in 1998. He was one of the most hilarious human beings. It's depressing that he, George Carlin, Robin Williams, and Chris Farley are gone! And those are 4 of my favorites. :-'(
DanOliver
Amazing there were so many commercials. But that there are so many on YouTube really blows me away. That people had these on tape for years.
