Voting for *any* video game character in Smash Bros

That link takes you to the page where you can vote for any video game character to be put into Super Smash Bros. Since this is an Atari forum I am sure that is mostly what might been generated here I'm not a SSMB nut, the U version is the first time I've owned a game in the series and I frankly don't see why some people lose their minds over the game. The nod to PONG on the Meta Knight level is cool but it would be really cool to have a proper Atari character in there.

 

I voted for Yar from Yars Revenge. I pointed out that Yar was done as a Game Boy game but also that Yar has great movement; has standard shot attacks, could use the Neutral Zone or Quotile Shield for defense and the Zorlon Cannon/Quotile would make for an amazing retro style smash (imagine it ending with the pixellated multi-color explosion just like in YR). Guess I could have mentioned the Homing Missile could be on Yars' side for Smash.

 

Other characters that could work as standalone or as assist characters:

 

-Bentley Bear

-Major Havoc

-Commander Champion from Liberator/Atari Force

-Robot#1984 from I,Robot

-Charley Chuck from Food Fight

-Knight from Adventure

-Elf Wizard from Centipede

-Archer from Millipede

Or any of the characters from Atari Games: Gauntlet warriors, Paperboy, STAAR from Area 51, etc.

Ok I voted for Yar too. Thinking maybe we pile on votes for one character rather than spread out. Dont know. As long as there are plenty of Atari votes I guess.

I heard of one person that voted for Bentley Bear but he stated that he didn't really like Nintendo and doesn't own/isn't familiar with Smash. I almost joined on that but I can't really think of what Bentley does that would work great for a fighting game. Sure the moves could be invented but I think it better if that stuff is "built-in" so to speak. So Yar seems to have that already and Yar's smash would be the most distinctive out of the other characters (IMO )

Bently the Bear...hmm...maybe the hat can trigger an unblockable attack that can't be avoided or only avoided a certain way. Maybe he can use honey to slow and opponent down or something. Old characters take a little creativity I guess, they did a nice job with Pac-Man, I'm sure they would think up of something.

 

If it has to be an Atari character I think Yar is still pretty much the best Atari icon. So much history there, its the same guy who did ET, it's Ray's name spelled backwards, it sold a lot and had a comic book. Perfect.

I voted for a squad from General Chaos. I thought it'd be a cool complement to the pikmen / olimar.
