Nutsy Doodleheimer
Just thought I start a thread to see if any of you have any great retro arcade joints within proximity of your residence you like to share. I live in Dallas currently. And there is one I know of called Barcadia. A retro arcade and bar. There is 20 or so cabinets plus outdoor skeeball. The games are a multicade, Donkey Kong Jr, Space Invaders, Ninja Turtles, Tron, Q*bert, Moon Patrol, Tempest, Millipede, and Vs. Super Mario Bros. To name some. Had a 3,861,050 point performance.
Tales from the Game Room
I am in New England, so we have quite a few arcades here. Just to name a few... * Salisbury and Hampton Beaches both still have arcades. I am not sure if they are open all year round or not, but in the summertime they are, and they both offer a wide variety of newer and retro gaming. * Quarters Restaurant on in the Springfield area. A bit of a drive to get to, but if you like arcade games and good food/drinks, then this is worth the drive. I want to go soon to check out their " Cereal Saturdays." * FUNSPOT ARCADE! The one that put arcade records on the map! It is a good 2 hour ride, but it has all of the retro arcade favorites, and this is the place where the records are broken. I plan on going there either this year or next as it has been a good 20+ years since my last visit. ~ Ashley TALES FROM THE GAME ROOM

I've been to Funspot 3 times since 2010 and it's an 8 hour drive for me. You should go the weekend of the arcade tournament unfortunately they canceled this year's for reasons unknown. Funspot is the arcade to go to for a classic gaming bigot like myself. Here's a walkthrough I did of ACAM at Funspot last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzjy9doThMU Also check out Pinball Wizards Arcade in Pelham, NH. I did this walkthrough video on my return trip from Funspot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhWTBGrBzwo The closest arcade to me that has classic games is Timeline Arcade and it's an hour away. I try to get out there a few times a year. Here's a walkthrough of that arcade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9J4e-6Wci8 And if you really want old as dirt, there's the Old Sled Works penny arcade which is about 20 minutes away: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpIJZ7LhGOw
Cynicaster
The closest thing I have is The Arcade in Brighton, Michigan. They've got a decent little collection of games, but the focus seems to be more on pinball, which doesn't interest me that much. For video games, the focus is "golden age" titles of the late-70s to mid-80s. I think they've tried to add a few later games (fighters, etc.) to appease the slightly younger crowd, but I haven't been able to get back there in a while since they are currently not open during the week, which is the only time it's practical for me to go. +GoldenWheels
Man, next time I have to go to Concord for business maybe I will drag the family along and try to hit Funspot. Bowling, mini golf, arcades....I am sure I can burn a day there with the kids.
BigO
If a 5 hour drive is considered "close", then The Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. Lots of older machines EM pinballs on up to more moderns stuff. Old EM games like Speedway, Dune Buggy and such. I don't do much in the way of arcade video gaming, but they have some of that, too. Worth the time to go if you're in the area. It's all about the machines there. Don't expect the retro black light and neon arcade decor. Nutsy Doodleheimer
I myself would love to go to Funspot. Waaaaaaaay to far from my area. I am originally from Seattle, WA. But there was a great place in Tacoma, WA at the B&I ammusements. A huge retro arcade and a big carousel in the center. It had well over 100 arcade machines. The best arcades were indeed from 1979-1986. Late 80's early 90's were ok. But once those dance revolutions came out. Forget it. I never even go to a Dave and Busters it doesn't scream fun to me. Enough said here is the B&I ammusements also known as "Mikey's funland" from a youtube video. Whoever did this was awesome. The arcade sadly closed up in 2013. So many great memories. And this is the first place that got me into arcades and video games on my 6th birthday in 1987. Remember playing Centipede, Donkey Kong, DK Jr, Mario Bros, 1942, Pac-Man, Pole Position, Outrun, Hang-On with my dad helping me steer the motorcycle, and so many more. I always went there and lasted a living impression to me. Best moment was in 1990 me and a few of my friend together with tons of quarters beat the Ninja Turtles arcade. If someone can tell me how to share a youtube video with the actual video displayed Instead of clicking the link which this does. I surely appreciate it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jvhbE5HT-kI https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BgO6WPMvh0M
