freewheel
I literally just got back from a 2000 mile solo road trip. Great timing Seriously though, I put on ep 17 for the drive out. It was surprisingly fun to listen to - normally these get a bit long for me, but 5 hours goes by fast on the Canadian prairie when you're geeking out on 80s gaming goodness. I'll likely be doing it again in September, so here's hoping 2-3 episodes are out by then

+nurmix
Yep. 6 hours and 6 minutes. It beats episode 7 by 2 minutes. It was carefully orchestrated to do just that... And thanks again for your contribution, Byte Knight.
IntellivisionDude
Look Ma, i'm on TV. I still have a hour left to go, but i will listen to the rest later. Still feel weird listening to myself here. I don't like not knowing what people think about anything i said. On Youtube people leave comments. Here there is nothing. I feel vulnerable. +nurmix
I thought about that, Chris, but then decided against it. It's 6:06:11. No significance there, but I did manage to make certain segments start on all the same numbers (sometimes it just works out that way on it's own - oddly enough). I actually have a fun doing little things like that that probably only I ever notice... Like part 4 of the game review starts on 4:44:44 (purely accidental). The outtakes start at 5:55:55 (nudged things around a bit to make that happen). I've done other things like that in previous episodes too - like episode 8 where you get an hourly 'chime' and running time count from The Odyssey 2. That one took some effort! IntellivisionDude
You guys mentioned the Hockey glitch but there is another one. Not sure if it's in both NHL and Slap Shot. But you can score every time if you shoot the puck at the net from behind it.
+nurmix
Hmm.. I've seen that happen occasionally before, but didn't know it was easily repeatable. Interesting.

+Lathe26
Very minor: I noticed that the intro changed back to the previous version. I like both intros but episode 17's updated version was pretty cool. A very minor thing I noticed.

A few months ago i was goofing around and i was able to do it a few times in a row. But i can't remember if i was playing NHL or Slap Shot. freewheel
Hockey games are, for some reason, prone to easy scoring glitches. The early EA hockey games on Sega Genesis had a couple of guaranteed-to-score moves. I think it might be an indication of lack of interest in the sport from the programmers, so hockey doesn't get tested well enough. Not enough Canadians write video games! +DZ-Jay
Out of topic, but just because my searches lead me to an old link in one of the Podcast pages. Has anybody ever noticed that all available links to the "Your Friend The EXEC" manual all reference the same scanned copy, and that it is missing one page? It is missing the first page of Appendix D (page D-1, which should be between C-7 and D-2). It is the first page on the section about screen scrolling. I only noticed because I'm in the process of transcribing the entire document and faithfully reproducing it, with tables and all, for historical archiving. (I don't plan on distributing it, it's just for my own personal archives). Anyway, if anybody happens to have a copy of page D-1, please let me know. -dZ. Rev
Curse cmart for bumping ep.17 thread. Hahahhaha I enjoy the podcast. But due to being busy with projects, family, and work. It is hard to find time to listen. I can't listen at work. My radio is old in my truck and can't stream from my phone if that's even possible. I don't even want to download that much onto my phone and use memory up. It would be nice if the episodes were shorter. Not less content. But take the same 6 hour podcast and break it down into 3 episodes. Example: Episode 19 A. Episode 19.1 19.2. 19.3. You get my idea. I find myself skipping around and just hitting segments that interest me. If shorter I would listen to the whole thing. I don't particularly like the pause feature. It don't seem to work for me. After around episode 10 I have been skipping content due to my personal schedule. If I was not as busy i would listen to it all. Dont get me wrong. I enjoy the news and listener interviews. Some of technical stuff I skip. I actually like the 8bit music segments. Now a segment on some kind of serial number database would be nice. Hint hint. As I posted in the Ep 17 thread, I use a podcast app on my smart phone, so there's no need to remember where you left off, and I can listen in the car, my office, the house, the garage. It really is the ideal way to digest podcasts. Wouldn't a serial number database segment be rather dry..? Nothing but monotone, endless readings of Cmart's console numbers...

Most of the Keith segments would go on twice as long if I didn't stop him. He always says, he'll keep going until I turn the microphone off, and he's not kidding. Others mentioned the listener interviews too. Looks like we'll be rethinking that segment a bit. I respect your opinion of 'George'. I personally find him hilarious, which is why I put him in the show (in some episodes, I may over-use him a bit, but trust me, there are more unused George bits than used ones. He's very prolific). For what it's worth, your comment is the first time anyone has told me they don't care for him. But I understand he may not be to everyone's liking. I usually only put one song in each episode - and by that I mean music that is just music, not a music bed under one of George's bits, or while the outtakes play, or as some sort of transition between segments. Unless you're talking about the intro and outro, which are both quite short, unless I use one of the extended mixes, as I do from time to time. Of course we hear the opposite too; "more music!" And "you should always use the extended intro", etc. No matter what we do, someone won't like one aspect of it, and someone will think it's the best thing ever. The length issue is being addressed extensively in the Ep 17 thread, as you know... Edited June 17, 2015 by nurmix
