Sears Heavy Sixer Question

Recommended Posts

I bought a Sears Heavy Sixer and it worked before I cleaned it all up. Then it wouldn't work at all. Any suggestions? Power supply and RF cable are good.

I thought it might be the on/off switch. So I removed it and I broke one of the copper pieces that is in the plastic part of the switch. All the soldering looks good.

I'm frustrated and I'm not sure what or how to test stuff with a multimeter. I have a digital and analog multimeter but I am a newbie and don't know what to look for so any helpful hints are greatly appreciated. Thanks

(removing my prior, long-winded answer, as the capacitors in the power circuit could lead to some wonky readings if not diligently discharged first.)

Probably the simplest way to validate the power switch theory is just to get it out of the way--bridge the leads with something metallic so that it's permanently "on". Without having my 2600 open in front of me, it's hard to say what I'd use, although I have a few pairs of jumper wires with tiny alligator clips on them, which is probably what I'd prefer. Of course, the challenge with any dynamic test like this is making sure you don't short to anything else.
