Wally1 Posted June 1, 2015 Share Posted June 1, 2015 hi I just took a 65 XE brand new out of the box and when I use built in basic or Assembler/Editor cartridge after about two minutes the screen has random, garbage characters. it runs other cartridges such as games just fine. but with the good ole blue and white screen weird characters show up and in BASIC error 11 appears. frustrating. help anybody thanks a lot oh the RAM test seems okay Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
_The Doctor__ Posted June 6, 2015 Share Posted June 6, 2015 Wait till it gets hot and fails to run the test... after that... take a can of compressed air and turn it upside down and chill on chip at a time till the error and garbage subside after resets and stays that way when pulsing the spray on the suspect chip... please only follow the advice carelfully and don't get ahead of the suggestions others and myself make... we love our machines and hate to see them die completly... make sure of what you intend to do.. The extreme cold will condense water from the air and make the chip turn white with frost which could cause electrical problems on a live board.
