keitaro
While checking old Atari catalogues, I read in a catalogue for dealers from 1986 the game Demolition Derby (7830) listed as Supergame cartridge for Atari 7800. Anybody knows what game could be? Maybe a earlier version of Fatal run or something? I don't found more info about this game. Asides It's interesting Atari planing launch some of Mattel titles for Atari 2600:26137 Masters of the Universe26138 Thunder Castle26139 Treasure of Tarmin Some of these numbers were replaced by other games later. 8th lutz
Demolition Derby actually was a 1984 arcade game by Bally Midway. I'm guessing that Atari had plans of going a part of that arcade game. Here is the arcade version of Demolition Derby in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YAw7SiVs4g Edited June 10, 2015 by 8th lutz
Lendorien
Man. I remember that playing that game on a four player tabletop version as a kid. It was wicked fun with other players.
Lynxpro
Well, it makes sense Atari Corp would've re-packaged the Mattel M-Network games for the 2600. Mattel was out of the market; same with Coleco. Atari Corp did re-market the Coleco titles. I don't recall any of those freebie promotions. My grandmother bought us a 7800 [from KayBee] for her house right after it came out in early 1986. I got my own for my birthday that December and my parents bought it from Toys R Us and it didn't come with any free 2600 cartridges. As for Demolition Derby, perhaps the deal fell through with Midway after Jack Tramiel screwed them over in not releasing the LazerTag competitor they developed and licensed to Atari Corp that Michael Katz was hot to sell and the reason why Corp's gaming division was named "Atari Entertainment Electronics" during that era. Does anyone have any info on whether Demolition Derby was even partially coded? And was it released on any other platforms? I could swear there was an ST port. +Mitch
That catalog also has the 7800 Desert Falcon model number as CX7820 even though it was actually released as CX7811. Mitch
