oyamafamily
You CAN select any available wave (01, 06 or 11) at the starting of gameplay. If you start at Wave 01 and complete Wave 05, you CAN warp to any available wave (06, 11 or 16). So, the special game rules for KLAX are (unless specified by Moderators): WARPING ALLOWED, BUT CONTINUES PROHIBITED. oyamafamily
In the previous KLAX Contest on 2600 High Score Club (OLD Season 7 / Week 43), (http://atariage.com/forums/topic/164270-hsc-season-7-week-43-klax/) the old Moderator Ze_ro defined the following infos and settings: Game Name: Klax Released By: Unreleased! Developed by Atari Left Difficulty: N / A (N / A means Difficulty A or B is allowed, because Difficulty Switch has no effect on certain 2600 games) Right Difficulty: N / A Game Mode: Your choice of starting wave. voodoo_chilly
Is there a non-PAL ROM? This doesn't work on my Harmony Encore cart. Does it work on Stella? I haven't used Stella for years but I may have to go the emulator route this week. I do know that it works on my phone 2600 emulator but playing on a phone is NO FUN and hard to see. +KaeruYojimbo
49,105 The main advantage of warping is getting the extra drops. It's pretty easy to get more points by playing the early levels than the bonus you get for skipping them.

There's an NTSC prototype ROM. According to atariprotos.com it's the final version, but I can't find a download for it there and can't remember where I got mine. Atarimania maybe? The final version is dated 8-18-90. Edited June 14, 2015 by KaeruYojimbo

StanJr
Played the NES version endlessly. Will be interesting to see how it plays on the VCS
oyamafamily
Is it acceptable to play the prototype ROM for this? I think IT IS ACCEPTABLE. Also, PAL and NTSC versions of 2600 games DON'T MATTER in this HSC just because there are Atari Age members located in the countries whose Color Format is NTSC (nominal frequency 60 Hz), and some members located on PAL region (nominal frequency 50 Hz). In the previous Klax contest (with the Moderator Ze_ro), I used Prototype ROM and scores have been accepted. MoomUnit
There's a (non-prototype) NTSC version of the ROM right here in the AtariAge zip file: http://atariage.com/2600/roms/Klax.zip Edited June 14, 2015 by MoomUnit

It's technically a prototype (even though it's a finished game) since the NTSC cartridge was never released. S.BAZ
added the NTSC rom at the top. correct, you can start on whichever wave you like, and warp all you like, just not continue. This is similar to playing with a single credit in the arcade game. scoring tip: for those who haven't played much KLAX, one of the best ways to get big points is to make a "Big X" (two 5-tile diagonals crossing) for 6,000pts. also the manual makes no mention of it but you can hit a "secret warp bonus" hidden in some of the waves by making a Big X during that wave. that will also warp you way ahead in the game. Example: the one in Wave 6 gives you 50,000pts & warps you ahead to Wave 51!
