For instance the 2600 port of Zaxxon isn't faithful at all, but IMO it's still a good game that still has the spirit of the original game. Even had a modified Indy 500 controller kit that included some lead weights and a new decal to place over the old. Hype surrounding 2600 Tempest back then was only to be outdone by Team Battlesphere several years later! Well, at least BS was released. But in response to your question, probably. Seeing that 2 versions of Star Castle were finally programmed for the 2600, I believe that the 2600 can handle it. I don't own a 5200 and don't want to deal with floppy control sticks. And custom digital arcade style 5200 controllers don't like Tempest very well, which expects analog.
