Scott Adams Graphic Adventures?

Recommended Posts

Hey, people.

I have the entire Scott Adams Graphic Adventure (S.A.G.A.) collection for the Atari 800. My son's gotten into them as well, and I want to set them up for him on an emulator, but I've been unable to find disk images for most of these games (the text adventures are readily available but the graphical versions seem hard to find,) and my FC5025 won't read the second side of the disks.

Does somebody have these? Or is it time for me to buck up and get an SIO2PC thingy of some sort?

Thanks!

If it is copy protected, you'd need a Atarimax prosystem interface, with prosystem software. You make a .pro image, not a

regular .atr. You can use DiskWizard II to 'test' the floppy with. If it has error sectors, then it is copy protected.

There's also the '.atx' image, which I don't know how to make.

Both .atx and .pro require a special PC adapter and software.

Hi reverendshoebox,

If they are original disks and you'd consider loaning your collection to me, I can make both flux and ATX images of the disks for preservation purposes. That will allow you to play them in an emulator as well as preserve the disks before they degrade to the point that they are no longer playable.

A few people on the forum have done this so far and can vouch that their disks were returned in a safe and prompt manner :-)

Shoot me a PM if interested.

I have never seen any of the graphical adventures for the Atari 800 xl/xe series. ST I think had a few graphical adventures.

No, they certainly exist. The early ones (notably "Adventure Land" and "Pirate Adventure", which were SAGA #1 and SAGA #2) used a very anoying flickering to render more colors, the more modern ones avoid this and work with a custom palette. Not all the S.A.G.A. adventures were extended by graphics, though.

From all I have played, "Pirate Adventure" is still a favorite. Say Yoho!

I've never seen these graphical adventures. I mostly only remember a couple of the Sierra-Online ones.

Now I feel inspired to try to make an Atarimax flashcart workbook(s)

There is a short list below. I'm not sure all the games exist in ATR form.

Adventureland (SAGA No.1)

Pirate Adventure (SAGA No.2)

Mission Impossible (SAGA No.3)

Voodoo Casle (SAGA No.4)

The Count (SAGA No.5)

Strange Odyssey (SAGA No.6)

The Sorceror of Claymorgue Castle (SAGA No.13)

Spiderman (Questprobe #2)

The Hulk (Questprobe #3)

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai

Did I miss any?
